Description
Win Kirifuda first appears as a cheerful and strategic sixth-grader in the Duel Masters Win series, known for his energetic personality and unique speech ending in "tto." He lives in Shirahama Town with his caretaker Papa-rin (Guts Kirifuda) and a pet named Gen-san, with his biological mother's location unexplained. Despite lacking blood ties to the Kirifuda family, he carries their surname tradition. He primarily duels with a dark civilization Abyss Royal deck, featuring cards like Abyssbell = Jashin Emperor, and demonstrates exceptional adaptability, often incorporating multiple civilizations for unexpected strategies. His bond with the entity Jashin-kun begins during a tournament where Jashin manifests physically in high-stakes "Jashin Duels," revealing Win unconsciously channels dark mana to sustain him.
Later, as a middle schooler, Win enrolls at Maihama Academy Duel School, founding the "Best Duel Masters Club" against opposition from the elite D4. He defeats rivals like Prince Kaiser using innovative tactics, such as combining Abyss Mechraid cards with his deck. During this period, he encounters an alternate reality version of himself ("Opposite Win") devoid of dueling passion. His journey includes the Duel Wars tournament, where intense matches sometimes lead to surreal consequences like fainting after confrontations with Kaiser.
In Duel Masters LOST, Win is a 16-year-old high school student living alone in Shibuya, Tokyo, suffering complete amnesia with no recollection of his past life or identity. He attends school, works part-time, and struggles socially, appearing clumsy or losing jobs due to mistakes. His only possession is his Abyss deck. At night, he socializes with friends like Niika, aware of his memory loss, displaying fleeting bursts of his former lively self during casual activities or effortless victories over skilled opponents despite forgetting his expertise. He sporadically exhibits superhuman physical abilities, incapacitating a bully with a single kick or running at extraordinary speeds.
His fragmented existence is disrupted by Crysta, a mysterious transfer student claiming intimate knowledge, declaring their engagement, and urging his return to their original world. She reveals he is a "Duel Master" from another realm. Simultaneously, supernatural phenomena escalate, including the appearance of a "Boundary Line" – a dimensional rift leading to a ruined Tokyo inhabited by predatory creatures. Jashin reemerges through this rift, guiding Win to use duel shields against crystalline entities and informing him a "duel to regain everything" is imminent. Touching a Crystal Card entrusted by Crysta triggers visions revealing glimpses of his forgotten childhood, father, and hometown Shirahama. This card becomes a dark web target. Win confronts threats like Tabula-Rasa and Imish Itzayana to rescue friends such as Niika, temporarily encased in crystals. The narrative positions him in a conflict to reclaim his lost world and memories, with Jashin implying deeper ties to the ruined dimension.
