Description
Seth originates from 2126, initially serving as assistant to Rex's parents, Dr. Ancient and Dr. Cretacia, during their Mesozoic mission. He betrayed them by aiding Dr. Z in hijacking their timeship, though it crashed in the present day due to interference from the android Jonathan. Following the crash, Seth collaborated with Dr. Z to repair the disguised timeship, Zeta Point, while secretly plotting to seize control for his own agenda. His ultimate goal involved forcibly evolving dinosaurs to survive the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction, believing this would advance the species and create a world dominated by his enhanced creations. This included altering dinosaur Move Cards, such as modifying a Velociraptor card into a triangular multi-Move format, and conducting unauthorized capture missions through Rod and Laura without Dr. Z's knowledge.
Seth's betrayal of the Alpha Gang culminated in his use of a salvaged Tyrannosaurus rex fossil, genetically engineered into the powerful Black T. rex. Defeated when the D-Team and Alpha Gang allied against him, he was pulled into a time vortex. Rescued by the Spectral Space Pirates, Seth joined their ranks, adopting new attire: a white-and-black cloak over a blue jacket with white trim, red belt, white pants, and navy boots. For the Space Pirates, he managed dinosaur operations, designed Spectral Armor enhancements, and created the entities Gigas, Armatus, and Maximus. He also orchestrated the kidnapping of the D-Team's parents to coerce their assistance in locating the Cosmos Stones.
During this period, Seth maintained a facade of loyalty to Spectre while secretly plotting to claim the Cosmos Stones for himself, intending to use their power to destroy the existing universe and establish a new one under his control. In a critical act of deception, he faked defection from the Space Pirates, using a goo dinosaur to distract Dr. Z and steal the D-Team's recovered Cosmos Stones. He utilized a Cryolophosaurus—a Secret Dinosaur with ice-based attacks—as his primary fighter, deploying it strategically during confrontations. However, after seizing the Stones, he experienced a change of heart and nearly sacrificed himself to destroy the Dark Pterosaur, recognizing the greater threat it posed.
Personality-wise, Seth typically exhibited calmness and emotional reserve, though his obsession with dinosaur modification led to periods of maniacal behavior, particularly after his initial betrayal of Dr. Z. Despite his manipulative and treacherous actions—including betraying both the Alpha Gang and the Space Pirates—he adhered strictly to promises when made, such as returning Chomp's card after Max fulfilled a dangerous request. His Japanese name, "Nopis," derives from a reversed reading of "Spinosaurus" in katakana, referencing his association with Water Dinosaurs in arcade appearances, while his English name alludes to the Egyptian god of chaos, Set. Physically, he is distinguished by spiked blue hair, pale skin, triangular reddish tattoos under his eyes, and signature outfits reflecting his faction allegiances.
