Description
Hana Shirosaki is a fifth-grade elementary school student and one of the central figures in her circle of friends. She is the only daughter of Haruka Shirosaki. Hana is a familiar presence in the Hoshino household as she is a close friend and classmate of Hinata Hoshino.

In appearance, Hana is a young girl with long, flowing dark hair, often described as grape-black, which she typically secures on one side with a distinctive pink flower-shaped hairpin. This accessory is a treasured keepsake that was a gift from her paternal grandmother, Sakura. Her bright blue eyes complement her composed features. Her standard attire includes her school uniform, but outside of school, her personal fashion sense is noted to be notably poor, as she gravitates towards clothing featuring a character named Higero, a design her friends find uncool. This lack of interest in trendy or cute fashion seems to be a hereditary trait. Standing at 142 centimeters tall, her youthful stature occasionally belies her mature demeanor.

Hana presents a calm and mature personality that often makes her seem more adult-like and somewhat aloof compared to her peers. She frequently serves as the voice of reason within her friend group, acting as a straight man to the more energetic or eccentric behavior of those around her, including her friend Hinata and, most notably, Hinata's older sister, Miyako. She possesses a sharp and brutally honest tongue, especially when she feels uncomfortable or when her personal boundaries are violated. However, this composed exterior has a significant and well-known weakness: a deep and passionate love for sweets. Her enthusiasm for confectioneries can reliably lift her spirits or soothe her anger, with pudding being her favorite treat. Aside from her sweet tooth, Hana harbors a number of childish fears, including a strong aversion to ghosts and a deep-seated fear of dogs, which stems from a belief that a dog bite could be fatal. She tries to maintain a brave facade in front of things she dislikes but is easily flustered when her true feelings are exposed. She is also notably clumsy when it comes to practical tasks like sewing or styling her own hair, and she becomes depressed when these shortcomings are pointed out, revealing that despite her mature air, she is very much a fifth grader.

Hana's role in the story is defined by her initial and reluctant interaction with Miyako Hoshino, a shy university student who develops an intense, immediate fascination with her. Their first meeting leaves Hana with the distinct impression that Miyako is a dangerous person, and she is frequently disturbed by Miyako's obsessive behavior, which often involves a desire to dress her in cosplay and take photographs. Hana's primary motivation for tolerating and continuing to visit the Hoshino home is transactional at first; she allows Miyako to indulge in her cosplay hobby in exchange for high-quality, homemade sweets, which effectively exploits her weakness for delicious treats. She is not without her limits, however, and will not hesitate to physically stop or intimidate Miyako when she becomes overly excited or if Hana feels truly endangered.

Over time, Hana's motivations evolve from simple bribery to a more genuine, if unspoken, care for Miyako. While she maintains her snarky and cautious exterior, she gradually opens up to the older girl. This development is highlighted during moments of vulnerability, such as when she clings to Miyako for security during a horror movie. Her growth is a central focus of the film Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! Precious Friends. During a visit to her grandmother's house in the mountains, Hana loses her treasured hairpin at a summer festival. Watching Miyako diligently overcome her social anxiety to ask strangers for help in searching for it deeply moves Hana, solidifying their bond beyond a simple sweet-for-costume arrangement. By the end of the series, she acknowledges a respect for Miyako's dedication, and her grandmother observes that Hana, who is usually sullen away from home, genuinely enjoys her time with Miyako, signaling a significant thaw in her initial coldness.

Key relationships for Hana include her close-knit, sibling-like group of friends: Hinata, Noa Himesaka, Kanon Konomori, and Koyori Tanemura, among whom she is the youngest. Her classmate Hinata serves as a bridge between Hana and her older sister, and she is often the one encouraging the development of their relationship. Hana's relationship with her grandmother, Sakura, is clearly a loving one, as evidenced by the treasured hairpin and her promise to return to visit her. While Hana is known for her aloofness, her primary notable ability lies in her function as the group's anchor of common sense, often using her sharp wit and deadpan observations to deflate absurd situations.
