ONA
Description
Eclair Ecleir Eicler is a non-player character who serves as the assistant butler in the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Created by the Supreme Being Ankoro Mocchi Mocchi as a comedic figure, his background is built on a deliberate and ironic contradiction. His official programming includes a secret desire to conquer Nazarick and claim its throne for himself, a trait intentionally installed by his creator as a joke. Despite this programmed ambition, he maintains a profound and genuine respect for the Forty-One Supreme Beings and is deeply loyal to the hierarchy of Nazarick.

In terms of appearance, Eclair resembles a rockhopper penguin, characterized by his blond crest feathers, beak, and flipper-like wings. His short legs give him a shuffling gait and make him reliant on others for efficient travel. When he needs to move across longer distances, he is typically carried by one of the ten masked male servants who serve directly under him.

His personality is a blend of immense pride, arrogance, and a genuine dedication to his duties. He carries himself with an enormous ego, frequently boasting about his position and his skills. Foremost among these skills is his work as a butler; he is utterly obsessed with cleanliness and takes his service responsibilities very seriously. He has been known to claim that the surfaces he cleans, such as toilets, are hygienic enough to lick, demonstrating his extreme and somewhat comical standards. While he loudly proclaims his aspiration to one day sit upon Nazarick's throne, this ambition is understood by nearly all other inhabitants as a harmless and laughable character quirk, as he possesses no actual ability to enact such a coup.

Eclair's primary role within the story is that of a supporting and comedic character, particularly in the chibi-style spin-off series Ple Ple Pleiades 4. In the main narrative, he is responsible for the upkeep and management of the 9th and 10th floors of the Great Tomb, especially when the head butler, Sebas Tian, is absent. In Ple Ple Pleiades 4, his role is expanded to drive many of the humorous vignettes. For instance, he is a regular patron at the 9th-floor bar run by his close acquaintance Sous-chef, whom he nicknames Piki. In one episode, he attempts to console a depressed Shalltear Bloodfallen, sympathizing with her experience of betrayal as it aligns with his own programmed "function," only to inadvertently deepen her guilt. In another, he tries to recruit her for his planned conquest, an effort that fails entirely. He also suffers the humiliation of being cuddled against his will by the battle maid CZ2128 Delta, who finds his penguin-like appearance adorable, leading him to actively try to avoid her.

His key relationships are largely defined by the bonds between their respective creators. Consequently, he is close with NPCs like Pestonya Shortcake Wanko, Aura Bella Fiora, Mare Bello Fiore, and Yuri Alpha, often using nicknames for them in private due to their creators' friendships. Outside of these circles, the regular maids tend to dislike him for his grandiose talk of treason, while powerful floor guardians like Demiurge simply dismiss his aspirations as an amusing non-threat. Despite his sometimes adversarial proclamations, he shows a kind and patient side when instructing the new human maid Tuare in the proper techniques of cleaning, demonstrating his core dedication to his role above all else.

There is a subtle element of development in his character, primarily stemming from the internal conflict caused by his own settings. Although he is programmed to desire the throne, he also genuinely respects the Supreme Beings and enjoys his work. This leads to moments in Ple Ple Pleiades 4 where, after declaring his intentions, he is gently scolded by friends like Pestonya and Sous-chef, to which he responds with sincere distress and apologizes for his "treasonous" thoughts. These moments highlight that he did not choose his ambition but is rather trapped by it, making him a figure of comedic sympathy.

Regarding abilities, Eclair has virtually no combat prowess. He holds a strength level of 1, making him one of the weakest beings in Nazarick. He cannot hold a cup properly with his flippers, requiring a straw to drink, and cannot sit on a chair by himself. His notable abilities are entirely domestic; his immense pride and skill are reserved for his work as a butler, with an almost supernatural dedication to cleaning and maintaining the tomb to an impeccable standard.
