Description
Nezuko Kamado lived peacefully as the eldest daughter of the Kamado family on Mount Kumotori. She helped her mother with chores and cared for her younger siblings while her brother Tanjiro sold charcoal. Despite financial hardship, the close-knit family instilled kindness and compassion in her. This life ended brutally when Muzan Kibutsuji slaughtered her family and transformed her into a demon. Initially attacking Tanjiro, she regained enough consciousness to shield him from the Hashira Giyu Tomioka, demonstrating her resistance to demonic urges.

After the attack, Nezuko traveled with Tanjiro in a sunlight-proof box. During a two-year hibernation, Tanjiro's mentor Sakonji Urokodaki implanted hypnotic suggestions reinforcing that "humans are family" and must be protected. This conditioning, bolstered by her innate willpower, allowed her to resist consuming human flesh entirely, sustaining herself through sleep. Her demonic form altered her appearance: replacing her human black hair tied in buns and dark pink eyes with long, black-to-flame-orange hair, pale pink eyes featuring slit pupils, prominent fangs, and sharp claws. She wore a pink kimono with an asanoha pattern and a bamboo muzzle secured by red cloth, gifted by Giyu to suppress her bloodlust.

Nezuko possessed unique demon abilities. Her Blood Demon Art, "Exploding Blood," generated pink flames from her blood that harmed only demons, sparing humans. She exhibited extraordinary strength, regeneration, and agility despite never consuming human blood. She could manipulate her size, shrinking to a child-like form for transport or growing into an adult form for combat. During intense battles, such as against Upper Rank Six Daki, she entered a berserk state marked by a white forehead horn, vine-like skin markings, and enhanced power. This state risked loss of control, nearly causing her to attack a human until Tanjiro calmed her with their mother's lullaby.

Her personality retained core kindness and protectiveness, though human memories were fragmented. She communicated nonverbally through gestures and expressions, displaying childlike curiosity and unwavering loyalty to Tanjiro. She showed empathy toward humans and benevolent demons like Tamayo and Yushiro, viewing them as family. Fierce protective instincts emerged in battle to save allies. After gaining immunity to sunlight during the Swordsmith Village Arc, her speech gradually improved, eventually forming words like "Welcome back, Inosuke."

Nezuko played critical roles in key battles. She destroyed Rui's threads with her Blood Demon Art on Mount Natagumo and protected passengers on the Mugen Train by burning Enmu's blood art ropes. In the Entertainment District Arc, her berserk form overwhelmed Daki, and she later purified Gyutaro's poison from injured slayers. Her blood contributed to Tamayo's cure for demonification, vital in the final battle against Muzan. After Muzan's defeat, she fully reverted to human form but retained her flame-orange hair tips.

Her relationships defined her journey. Her central bond with Tanjiro drove mutual, unconditional protection. She developed friendships with Zenitsu Agatsuma, who adored her, and Inosuke Hashibira, who initially distrusted her but later accepted her. Hashira like Giyu Tomioka and Kyojuro Rengoku acknowledged her uniqueness after witnessing her protect humans. Her descendant, Toko, inherited her hair coloration.
