Description
Hopper, known as Akwimos in English-language media, is an Aquos-attribute Bakugan resembling a merman, originating from the planet Neathia. He first appeared as digital clone data within Bakugan Interspace during the New Vestroia conflict. This clone participated in test battles under Spectra Phantom's command, including a battle against Dan Kuso's Drago where it was defeated after Drago deployed JetKor battle gear. These digital clones were later revealed to be based on authentic Neathian Bakugan, with Hopper's original counterpart serving as Princess Fabia Sheen's guardian Bakugan.
During the Gundalian Invaders conflict, Fabia provided the original Neathian Bakugan to the Battle Brawlers, resulting in Hopper becoming Marucho Marukura's primary guardian Bakugan. Hopper quickly formed a strong bond with Marucho, adopting the phrase "Cool is the rule, dude!" after Marucho programmed it into the digital clone's speech patterns. This catchphrase became a signature trait, frequently repeated during interactions with other Bakugan like Drago. In the Japanese version, Hopper speaks with a Kansai dialect, aligning with Marucho's previous partner Bakugan.
Hopper participated in numerous battles throughout the Gundalian-Neathian war. He battled Ren Krawler's Linehalt, using Gigarth battle gear to secure victory. He clashed inconclusively with Stoica's Lythirus when Gundalian forces retreated. Hopper fought an underwater battle against Aquos Megarus defending Neathia. He joined Aranaut in a battle against Linehalt and Nurzak's Sabator, interrupted by a dimensional disturbance from the Sacred Orb. Hopper had multiple encounters with Airzel's Strikeflier, using the ability "Elemental Blue" in one to create an ice barrier enabling a strategic retreat. His final battle was against Phantom Dharak, where he was defeated in a single attack.
Hopper's abilities include "Heal Blue" to nullify opponent abilities while boosting team power, "Spiral Pressure" for self-strength enhancement, "Loop Shield" for team defense, and "Elemental Blue" to freeze opponents and force a draw. His Gigarth battle gear was integral to several victories, requiring specific deployment by pulling down his arms.
At the conclusion of the Gundalian conflict, Hopper remained on Neathia while Marucho returned to Earth, leading to an emotional farewell. Hopper is distinguished as the first of Marucho's guardian Bakugan unable to change attributes without external aids like Gate Cards or Ability Cards.
