Description
Nana Daiba is a second-year student at Seisho Music Academy, enrolled in the Actor Training Department as a member of the 99th graduating class. She is a tall and gentle stage girl who naturally assumes the role of a mother figure to her classmates, earning their trust through her kind and caring nature. Her warmth extends to a love of cooking and baking, especially pork miso soup, and she frequently bakes sweets with other students. She is known by the affectionate nickname Banana, a name that stems from her distinctive hairstyle, her fondness for the fruit, and the phonetic similarity of her family name. Despite her sunny and compassionate disposition, she harbors a deep fear of being alone, which underlies many of her actions.
Nana possesses exceptional talent not only in singing and dancing but also in theatrical direction and production. Her most significant and unique ability, however, is the power to manipulate time. Having previously won the Revue auditions, she gained the privilege of the Top Star, which she used to rewind time and relive the 99th Seishou Festival's group production of Starlight countless times. This power stems from her profound attachment to that performance, which she cherished more than any other experience. Her motivations are driven by a desire to preserve moments of collective joy and to protect the stage and the bonds formed upon it. This love for everyone who comes together to create a performance can sometimes manifest as a ruthless or cruel streak when she feels those bonds are threatened.
In the narrative of the film, Nana's role is central to the story's exploration of endings and moving forward. Her initial attempts to freeze time and repeat the past are confronted, forcing her to evolve. Her most important relationship is with her best friend and roommate, Junna Hoshimi, whom she supports and cares for deeply. Her journey culminates in her learning to accept change, to let go of the desire for timeless repetition, and to step into an uncertain future, transforming from a guardian of the past into someone who can embrace new stages and new possibilities in her pursuit of stardom.
