Description
Lina, known alternately as Rina or Lena in some adaptations, hails from a dystopian future where psychic powers evolved as a survival mechanism against environmental ruin. As a member of a time-traveling psychic collective, she aimed to rewrite history and avert her era’s collapse. A mishap during their temporal jump stranded her lover Nichol and triggered rapid aging among the group. Desperate, they turned to Dr. Gamo Whisky, who erased their identities and reprogrammed them as obedient assassins.

Initially an antagonist, Lina battled the 00 Cyborgs until Cyborg 001 repelled her psychic assault, forcing her retreat. Later, a psychic ambush misfired, teleporting her and Cyborg 009 to a shared location. Marooned together, they forged a tense alliance as Lina’s suppressed memories resurfaced in fragments, shifting her from adversary to reluctant ally.

Her past resurfaced when Dr. Gamo sent Cain, a fellow brainwashed psychic, to kill her. Cain confessed to rediscovering his memories earlier than the others and murdering Nichol. In their final clash, Lina synchronized her warp ability with his, hurling them both into an unresolved temporal void.

Lina’s platinum-blonde hair and magenta-and-black dress mirror her fractured psyche, balancing innocence with the scars of manipulation and trauma. Her adoptive brother Phil, a fellow psychic assassin, shares her origins but diverges in his loyalties. Localization variances in her name (“Lena” in English dubs versus Japanese “Rina/Lina”) hint at broader ambiguities surrounding her origins, though thematic ties link her to earlier Ishinomori narratives. Her story ends ambiguously, her fate uncertain after the synchronized warp with Cain.
