Description
Jōji Takadanababa is a character from the King of Prism franchise. His real name is Noriyuki Motokawa, and he was originally from Okayama prefecture. During his childhood, he faced bullying due to his weight and appearance, which left him with significant self-esteem issues. His life changed dramatically after witnessing a Prism Show performed by Jin Norizuki, an event that inspired him to reinvent himself as a Prism Star. He adopted the stage name Jōji Takadanababa and transformed his appearance, most notably dyeing his hair a bright blue. His drive to study under Jin motivated him to enroll at the prestigious Schwarz Rose academy.

In terms of personality, Jōji presents himself as upbeat, silly, and flamboyant, but these traits often mask a deep-seated insecurity. He is exceedingly full of himself and openly prioritizes winning above all else, sometimes even resorting to cheating to achieve victory. Central to his character is an intense, persistent desire for the approval and affection of Jin Norizuki, his idol. He constantly flatters Jin and is immediately agreeable to his demands, dropping any pretense of a bored or rude tone when in his presence.

One of Jōji's most notable and unusual characteristics is his complete reliance on lip-syncing during performances, as he cannot sing. His vocals are provided off-stage by his ghostsinger, Ace, another member of his unit. Jōji exhibits no shame about this arrangement, often directing Ace to sing for him in various situations, including during personal moments like dates. His own performances are visually extravagant, featuring flamboyant costumes such as a jester outfit and a signature pink heart painted on his left cheek. In competitions like the Prism King Cup, he has achieved a third-place finish with his solo song LOVE♥MIX.

Jōji is a student at Schwarz Rose and was formerly the leader of the unit known as The Shuffle. His key relationships are primarily defined by his dynamic with Jin Norizuki, his mentor and object of admiration. He also has a significant, though less explicit, connection with his ghostsinger Ace, who is essential to his act. His catchphrase is joy, which appears in his speech and song titles. His character undergoes development as he is forced to confront his past insecurities and solidify his identity as Jōji, distinct from his former self Noriyuki, while still embracing his roots. In the context of Prism Show Best 10, his performances are included in supplemental courses but do not rank within the in-universe Best Ten.
