Description
Leo Saionji, an aspiring Prism Star at Edel Rose Academy, possesses a small 158 cm frame, peach-pink neck-length hair, and fuchsia eyes. His naturally feminine look frequently causes him to be mistaken for a girl. Born April 4, 2001, in Sapporo with blood type O, Leo was raised in a gender-neutral environment by mascot designer parents Hirika and Non Saionji. This upbringing involved wearing traditionally feminine clothes and playing dress-up with his older sisters Kirari and Yurari, surrounded by cute aesthetics due to his family's profession.

Severe bullying over his feminine demeanor during elementary school led Leo to withdraw. Witnessing his sisters blame themselves for his femininity, Leo enrolled at Edel Rose determined to become more "masculine" to ease their worries. He idolizes Yukinojo Tachibana as a mentor on femininity and masculinity, seeking his guidance respectfully. Shy, clumsy, and fond of cute things, Leo designs costumes for Edel Rose performances and later for the unit Septentrion, showcasing talent in fashion design and sweets-making.

Leo exhibits strong protectiveness and jealousy towards Shin Ichijo, particularly when Shin interacts with others like Louis Kisaragi or girls. His behaviors include waiting for Shin's return and sniffing him to check for female presence. His attempts to appear masculine often fail, reinforcing his initial self-view. Across his story, Leo experiences significant development. In "Shiny Seven Stars," he moves towards self-acceptance, acknowledging his gender nonconformity and regaining the confidence to express himself authentically—openly embracing his fondness for dresses and feminine activities without seeing contradiction.

His Prism Star performances feature the "Lovely" style, including songs like "Twinkle Twinkle" and Prism Jumps such as "Metamorphosis of Love and Mystery" and "Lion Heart Flower." He admires Prism Star Otoha Takanashi and has covered the duet "ALIVE" with Yuu Suzuno. His name reflects his background: "Saionji" translates to "Western Garden Temple," while "Leo" (meaning "lion") symbolizes his parents' wish for him to develop a strong heart.

Leo's twin sisters share voice actresses and catchphrases with Reona and Dorothy West from "PriPara." His character parallels others in the franchise, like Reona West and Nanao Hidaka, through visual design, thematic colors, and gender-nonconforming traits.
