Description
Inkarmat, a young Ainu woman hailing from Hokkaido’s Saru district, is renowned for her mastery of divination through a white fox skull passed down through generations. Her name, meaning “the woman who sees,” mirrors her role as a spiritual guide. Adorned in traditional attire—a dark red *cinciri*, navy blue *matanpushi* headpiece, and *tamasai* bead necklace reserved for ceremonial use—she bears striking features: red-tinted brown eyes, cascading reddish locks, and a traditional lip tattoo.

Orphaned in childhood, she crossed paths with Asirpa’s father, Wilk, in Otaru, asserting she instructed him in Ainu traditions prior to his marriage. Foreseeing her own death in eastern Hokkaido, she departed Otaru clutching a gifted traditional outfit from Wilk, embarking on a nomadic existence intertwining sacred rituals with calculated schemes.

Her path converged with Sugimoto’s group in Yufutsu, where she leveraged divination to influence horse race outcomes alongside Shiraishi, earning Asirpa’s wary skepticism. Later, she forged an alliance with First Lieutenant Tsurumi, bargaining to utilize Genjirō Tanigaki in a strategic gambit. Disclosing intimate knowledge of Tanigaki’s past—including his sister’s death—she secured his trust to steer him toward Asirpa.

Journeying with Tanigaki and the orphan Cikapasi, she assumed a maternal guise, proposing they masquerade as kin to evade detection. This signaled her transition from solitary cunning to fragile alliances, though her allegiance hinged on pragmatism. She navigated between self-preservation and a professed commitment to safeguarding Asirpa and Ainu traditions, though her tactics sometimes imperiled allies.

Inextricably linked to Wilk’s legacy, she nursed unspoken sentiments from their shared past. Learning of his death, her drives merged with avenging his memory, sparking clashes against perceived adversaries. Aligning with Tsurumi’s faction amid treacherous alliances, her fate hung in balance after sustaining grave wounds.

Wielding spirituality as both shield and compass, she clutched the Sirakki Kamuy jawbone for solace in pivotal moments. Her journey teetered between calculated deception and raw vulnerability, grappling to harmonize her solitary instincts with fledgling bonds to Tanigaki and Cikapasi. Beneath her shrewd exterior, flickers of self-reflection surfaced—particularly regarding her place in Ainu society and her entwined fate with Wilk’s legacy.
