Description
Yomi stands as the primary antagonist throughout most Babel II narratives. A distant descendant of the alien entity Babel I, he shares extraterrestrial heritage with the protagonist Koichi Yamano (Babel II), granting him comparable psychic abilities: telepathy, telekinesis, and energy projection.

The Tower of Babel's computer system identified Yomi as the first potential heir millennia after Babel I's arrival. Despite his substantial innate power, the computer rejected him. Sources vary on the precise reason, citing either insufficient psychic strength or moral deficiencies like excessive ambition and amorality. His memories of encountering the tower were subsequently erased.

Following this rejection, Yomi forged himself into a warlord operating from a hidden Himalayan stronghold. He constructed a vast international organization with global bases, staffed by scientists, engineers, psychics, cyborg agents, and advanced humanoid Baran robots. His operatives infiltrated governments by replacing key figures, enabling covert manipulation of nations. His unwavering goal remained world domination through any means, viewing himself as Babel I's true heir.

Yomi's personality blends strategic brilliance with ruthless pragmatism. He shows occasional concern for subordinates, ordering tactical retreats to minimize losses or prioritizing their rescue in crises, yet readily sacrifices individuals when advantageous. This complex dynamic culminates in him abandoning a decisive battle against Babel II to aid suffocating troops, resulting in his entrapment. His ambition often manifests as god-like posturing, with followers sometimes regarding him as divine.

His formidable powers carry significant risks. Prolonged or amplified use depletes his vitality, causing rapid aging and physical deterioration. A machine designed to boost his abilities beyond natural limits ultimately drains his life force completely. Later adaptations expand his capabilities to include teleportation, pyrokinesis, and energy beam projection.

Yomi repeatedly revives after apparent defeats, adopting new forms like a bandaged mummy. His conflict with Babel II escalates through multiple arcs, including confrontations involving a sentient space virus that reanimates him while creating conflicting agendas. In the 1992 OVA, his intensified ruthlessness sees him sacrifice psychic lieutenants to absorb their power for the final battle. The 2001 series *Beyond Infinity* reimagines his organization around recruiting psychics like Juju, who develops conflicted loyalties.

The sequel manga *His Name Is 101* explores consequences post-Yomi's defeat, revealing his organization's lingering influence. The U.S. government utilizes Babel II's captured blood—originally obtained during conflicts with Yomi—to create artificial superhumans, perpetuating cycles of exploitation tied to Yomi's legacy.
