Description
Myō is a mysterious teenage boy who belongs to a special race known as the ear tribe, a species that is born in animal form but can take on a human appearance as they grow. He has cat ears and a tail, dark hair that reaches his neck, and brown eyes. Myō first appears in the life of Daishu, an unpopular and lonely manga creator, after Daishu rescues a kitten during a rainy night; that kitten eventually transforms into Myō, who then moves in as Daishu’s roommate. His personality is very much like that of a typical cat: playful, curious, affectionate, and utterly uncontrollable. He often causes small accidents, such as knocking things over or wandering off, yet his innocent and straightforward nature brings a warmth and liveliness into Daishu’s previously solitary existence. Myō’s motivations are simple—he enjoys spending time with Daishu, exploring new things, and being cared for. He has little understanding of human social rules and often acts purely on instinct, which leads to both comedic situations and moments of genuine tenderness. Within the story, Myō serves as the catalyst that shakes Daishu out of his dull routine and helps him experience emotional connection for the first time. His role is primarily that of a beloved companion whose presence gradually dissolves Daishu’s emotional barriers. Myō’s key relationships include Daishu, who becomes both a caretaker and a close friend, and his brother-like figure Dong Dong, another ear tribe member who later moves into the neighboring apartment. There is also a gradual reveal of the ear tribe’s hidden world and Myō’s own mysterious background, which unfolds across the series. In terms of development, Myō remains consistently catlike and carefree, but as Daishu becomes more aware of his feelings, Myō also shows moments of deeper affection and loyalty. He does not undergo a drastic personality change, but his bond with Daishu deepens significantly. Notable abilities include his transformation between a humanoid form with cat attributes and a full cat form, as well as heightened senses, agility, and behavior typical of felines. He also has the capacity to understand and communicate with humans, but his actions are driven by a simple, instinctual logic. Overall, Myō is a warm, mischievous, and enigmatic character whose presence reshapes the world of the lonely manga artist around him.
