Description
Lily Hoshikawa is the youngest member of the idol group Franchouchou, known publicly as Number 6. She was a legendary child actor who dominated prime-time television as a breakout star, displaying remarkable talent and poise on any stage. After her death at the age of twelve, she was resurrected as a zombie and joined the group’s mission to revitalize Saga Prefecture through idol performances.
Beneath her cheerful and energetic exterior, she occasionally reveals a more calculating or mischievous side, a remnant of her years in the entertainment industry. She is bright, creative, and deeply confident in who she is. Her motivation stems from a desire to express herself freely and to make others happy through her performances. She also carries a strong need to reconnect with her past, particularly with her father and former manager, Takeo Go.
Lily was assigned male at birth and lived as Masao Go during her early childhood acting career. She later came out as a transgender girl and adopted the name Lily Hoshikawa. Her death was caused by shock and embarrassment after discovering a strand of facial hair, which triggered her deep fear of puberty and gender dysphoria. As a zombie, she finds relief in the fact that her body will never grow older, sparing her from further dysphoric changes. Her fellow Franchouchou members accept her without hesitation, and she remains close to them, especially during moments of vulnerability.
Her relationship with her father is central to her development. Initially resentful of the strict expectations he placed on her career, she later understands his love and regret after his death. She is unable to reveal her identity to him due to the group’s secrecy, but she performs a special song for him at a concert to say goodbye, finding closure. In the second season, she competes on a talent show against her professional rival Light Oozora, showcasing her growth and continuing relevance as a performer.
In Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise, Lily continues as a core member of Franchouchou. She participates in the group’s efforts to serve as ambassadors for the Saga Expo and later faces an alien invasion alongside her bandmates. Her abilities as a performer—singing, dancing, and creative choreography—are integral to the group’s success. She also demonstrates resilience and adaptability, whether on a traditional stage or in extraordinary circumstances. Her journey is one of self-acceptance and the power of being seen for who she truly is, all while contributing to the group’s comedic and heartfelt dynamic.
