Minami Tanaka

Description
Minami Tanaka is a Japanese voice actress affiliated with the agency 81 Produce. She was born on January 22, 1996, in Kanagawa Prefecture. Tanaka's path to becoming a voice actor began in her childhood, inspired by anime such as Ojamajo Doremi and Sailor Moon. She declared her ambition to pursue this career at her elementary school graduation and later honed her skills by joining her junior high school's drama club and her high school's broadcasting club.

Her professional career commenced in 2012 when she successfully passed the "Wake Up, Girls! AUDITION," a collaborative talent search by Avex and 81 Produce. This victory led to her debut in 2014 as Minami Katayama in the anime series Wake Up, Girls! and as a member of the real-life voice acting idol unit of the same name. This role served as a significant launching point for her career in the industry.

Since her debut, Tanaka has built an extensive and diverse portfolio of voice roles across anime, video games, and film. She is known for her versatility, having portrayed a wide range of characters. Some of her most prominent and recurring roles include Hinata Okano in the Assassination Classroom franchise, Mary Saotome in Kakegurui and Kakegurui Twin, Lily Hoshikawa in Zombie Land Saga and its sequel Zombie Land Saga Revenge, and the multiple characters of Non Manaka, Junon, Pinon, and Kanon in the Idol Time PriPara series. Her filmography also includes roles such as Nako Sunao in Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, Eris in Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, Shalsha in I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, Alice Tendō in Blue Archive, and Nina in Nina the Starry Bride. In a notable departure from anime, she became the Japanese voice of Thomas the Tank Engine in the Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go series.

Tanaka's talent and contributions to the voice acting industry have been recognized with several awards. In 2015, she was a recipient of the Special Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards as a member of the Wake Up, Girls! unit. She later received the Best New Actress Award at the 11th Seiyu Awards in 2017. Beyond these accolades, she was also noted as the most active female voice actor in terms of event participation in 2019.

In November 2023, Minami Tanaka announced her marriage. Her career continues to flourish with ongoing and upcoming roles in major anime productions.
