Superalloy Blackluster, also known as Superalloy Darkshine, is an S-Class Rank 11 professional hero with the Hero Association. His appearance is exceptionally muscular and imposing, featuring a bald head, round eyes, a defined jawline, thick neck, and well-developed pectoral, abdominal, and arm muscles. His skin possesses a distinctive metallic sheen integral to his identity. He exhibits vanity, frequently questioning if others focus on his physique or if he is the "shiniest" person present. A significant contradiction exists between his immense physical power and his mentally fragile disposition. He shows reluctance towards life-threatening situations and susceptibility to intimidation when facing opponents of comparable or greater strength, a core aspect of his development. His abilities center on extraordinary physical prowess: superhuman strength, speed, durability, and stamina. His defensive capabilities are particularly emphasized, frequently cited as the strongest among heroes. This durability allows him to withstand immense impacts, taking no damage while sparring with Bang and enduring Garou's Cross Fang Dragon Slayer Fist with only minor bleeding despite Garou's escalating power. His strength casually defeats high-level threats, destroying monsters comparable to the Deep Sea King with minimal effort, disintegrating the transformed Bug God with a casual jab, and shattering Half-Monster Garou's ribs with a single strike – an attack Garou believed fatal and impossible to deflect. His speed enables actions faster than Atomic Samurai in specific instances and landing hits on Half-Monster Garou. He resists corrosive substances, sustaining only partial damage from Vomited Fuhrer Ugly's acid that rapidly dissolved others. His specialized "Shimmer" technique reflects attacks. His lifting strength significantly surpasses Tanktop Master, who halted a colossal robot. His background involves intense bodybuilding to overcome past weakness and insecurity, transforming him physically but leaving his mental fortitude underdeveloped. During the Monster Association arc, his battle with Garou drives significant development. Initially confident, he overwhelms Garou. However, Garou's relentless resilience, ability to evolve mid-fight, and endurance of Darkshine's strongest attack, the "Superalloy Bazooka," without defeat shatter his confidence. Witnessing Garou's monstrous transformation and sensing overwhelming power triggers a complete psychological breakdown. He experiences intense fear, suffers flashbacks to his former weak self, and ultimately flees the battle, abandoning fellow heroes. This retreat marks a low point, highlighting his core weakness and leading to his withdrawal from active hero duty due to profound loss of confidence and fear of further psychological damage. Regarding design evolution, a new visual for the upcoming third season, credited to character designers Ryosuke Shirokawa and Shinjiro Kuroda, prompted discussion due to subtle changes in facial features like eyes, nose, lips, and eyebrows compared to prior manga and anime depictions. This visual presented his hero name as "Superalloy Blackluster." His official manga debut occurred in Chapter 29.
