Kanon, called Bianca in some regions, lives in Alto Mare with her grandfather Lorenzo. She has brown hair and eyes, with a unique hairstyle shaped like Latias's wings. Kanon typically wears a white beret, aiding identification when Latias assumes her form using shapeshifting abilities.

She first meets Ash Ketchum while sketching stained glass windows at the Alto Mare Museum. Ash mistakes her for the Latias he previously rescued, leading to a chase across the city. This encounter results in Ash discovering the Secret Garden, home to the guardian Pokémon Latios and Latias. Kanon initially protects Latios from Ash, accusing him of aggression until Lorenzo intervenes and clarifies the situation. She then apologizes to Ash and becomes his friend.

Her relationship with the Eon Pokémon is central. Latios and Latias, cared for by Lorenzo since infancy, are like family to her. Kanon shares an especially close bond with Latias, who often mimics her appearance to navigate Alto Mare unseen. This connection allows Kanon to communicate with Latios during crises, such as instructing him to use "sight-sharing" to guide Ash and Latias after antagonists Annie and Oakley take her and Lorenzo hostage.

Artistic expression recurs throughout Kanon's character. She is shown sketching in the museum, the Secret Garden, and by the harbor during the credits. Her final drawing in the film depicts Ash and Pikachu. The sketch's delivery becomes ambiguous: a figure resembling Kanon gives it to Ash and kisses him before departing. Narrative elements like body temperature differences and the figure appearing out of breath fuel ongoing debate about whether it was Kanon or Latias disguised as her.

Following the events in Alto Mare, Kanon reappears in a later episode, painting while Latios and Latias fly nearby invisibly, reinforcing her continued artistic pursuits and connection to the guardian Pokémon.
