Tarou Soramame, formally named Taro Soramame, is a 15-year-old inhabitant of Penguin Village who adopts a rebellious "bad boy" identity. He habitually smokes cigarettes and strives to cultivate a cool, aloof demeanor. Attending the same school as Arale Norimaki as an older student, he interacts with her and Akane Kimidori while preserving his characteristically detached disposition.

Throughout the series, he initiates a romantic involvement with Tsururin Tsun. Their relationship evolves steadily, culminating in marriage as depicted in a future glimpse. After graduating high school, he enters law enforcement and becomes a police officer.
