Description
Roy is an aspiring Pokémon Trainer who hails from a remote island near Kanto, raised by his grandfather while his parents sail on a long voyage. He often sang to himself as a reminder of his parents, forging friendships with local Pokémon. His grandfather gave him an Ancient Poké Ball discovered on the beach. This artifact later resonated with a mysterious pendant owned by his friend Liko, unleashing a black Rayquaza and igniting his quest to find the Legendary Pokémon.

Roy possesses medium-dark skin, expressive magenta eyes, and distinct dark hair featuring a bright pink tuft at the front. Initially, he wears a red T-shirt with a yellow emblem, a black sleeveless hooded vest, dark brown shorts, and open-toe sandals. After a timeskip, his appearance matures slightly; he adopts a practical outfit of a white shirt, brown vest, red shorts, sturdy sneakers, and a crossbody bag, also sporting a Mega Ring on his wrist.

His personality is upbeat, adventurous, and curious about the wider world beyond his island home. He frequently steps in to help others, even without prior experience, driven by a core enthusiasm for treasure hunting and exploration. Post-timeskip, he becomes a more skilled Trainer while retaining his determination to aid allies, notably helping to clear the Rising Volt Tacklers' name after they are framed.

His journey begins by saving a Fuecoco from falling, forming a strong bond before catching it as his first partner. Later, when a Wattrel steals his sandwich, he helps it learn to fly, leading it to choose him as its Trainer; it eventually evolves into Kilowattrel. In Kalos, he befriends and catches a Shiny Lucario, developing a bond potent enough to activate Mega Evolution and allowing communication via aura during battles.

Roy meets Liko after rescuing her from wild Pokémon, quickly becoming friends upon discovering the connection between their mysterious items. He joins the Rising Volt Tacklers airship crew, where Liko shows him around. He also befriends Dot, who initially resists social interaction. In Kalos, he encounters Uruto, a rival he initially finds annoying but grows to value as a competitive friend.

His skills include singing, which he uses to bond with Fuecoco. Post-timeskip, his battle abilities improve significantly, demonstrated by his effective use of Mega Evolution with Lucario and strategic coordination with his Pokémon team.
