Description
Veronica Thorn grew up in Suna village, forming a close childhood bond with Marlya Noel despite villagers' superstitions labeling Marlya cursed. Her village was destroyed during the War of Unification by military forces led by former Suna resident Ray Dawn, who ordered the massacre. Veronica and Marlya were the sole survivors, separated during their escape when Veronica deliberately drew pursuing soldiers away to protect Marlya.
This trauma transformed Veronica. Once admired as vibrant and kind-hearted, she became cold, emotionally detached, and singularly focused on avenging Suna by killing Ray Dawn. She joined the organization Albastora, training extensively in combat and assassination. Like Marlya, she possessed the rare ability to summon and control a fairy—the humanoid fairy Blood Daughter—without the standard fairy organ transplant. Blood Daughter could enter an opponent's body through wounds inflicted by Veronica's dual blades and destroy them internally.
Her primary Albastora missions involved recovering pages of the Black Fairy Tome, an artifact central to the Eins Order's goals. During one mission at an auction house, she encountered both Free Underbar of Dorothea and Marlya, who recognized her. Veronica rejected Marlya's attempts to reconnect, declaring her former self "dead." Despite her cold exterior, she repeatedly intervened to protect Marlya from dangers, saving her from Jonathan Passpierre's attacks and later from Eajey Daven Thor.
Her pursuit of Ray Dawn led to confrontations. She tracked him to a train ambushed by Eins Order forces, fighting Wolfran Row until Marlya and Free intervened. Later, she confronted Ray Dawn in Rondacia during political turmoil following Prime Minister Golbarn Helwise's assassination. Ray Dawn expressed remorse; Veronica hesitated, allowing Glyph Mercer to attack. Ray Dawn sacrificed himself to block it, leaving Veronica questioning her purpose.
In the final battle against the Eins Order's Divine Beast, Veronica partnered with Marlya to stop its rampage. Executing a plan to sever the beast's fairy-weapon restraints, she shielded Marlya from a lethal strike and was fatally impaled. With her last strength, she pushed Marlya to safety before disintegrating in the Divine Beast's attack. Her fairy, Blood Daughter, merged with Marlya's fairy, Ash Clad.
