TV-Series
Description
Chloe is a genetically modified teenager Hydra raised and trained, manipulating her to believe the Avengers were villains. She possesses the "Camouflage Act," granting advanced shapeshifting abilities to disguise herself as any person, including vocal mimicry, though she cannot replicate superpowers; this power extends to animorphism, allowing transformation into animals like cats. She wields tonfas with proficiency in combat as her primary weapons.
After attempting to defect with teammates Makoto and Adi, Hydra held her captive until Makoto enlisted the Avengers for a rescue. Following liberation, the Avengers took them in for training under the "Future Avengers" initiative. Chloe adopts the codename "Charade," initially hesitant to accept a name she hadn't earned but later embracing it through her actions.
Her personality blends independence and sharp wit, often expressed through deadpan snark. A strong protective instinct burns strongest toward Makoto, whom she views as a younger brother, and Adi, regarded as a brother figure – a dynamic reinforced by Thor and later explained by Chloe herself to Black Panther. Stubbornness occasionally drives reckless decisions, like sneaking aboard an Avengers mission to Wakanda without authorization, leading to temporary imprisonment before earning Black Panther's respect for her audacity.
Across both seasons, she engages in numerous missions. In Season 1, she helps expose Norman Osborn's Green Goblin identity to thwart a Super Registration Act and participates in a critical plan faking Makoto's death, enabling the Avengers to infiltrate the Leader's schemes. Her significant friendship with Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) sees Chloe demonstrate loyalty by traveling to the moon to ensure Kamala's safety during the Inhuman conflict in Season 2. During a black market auction mission aboard the Starbright luxury liner, she infiltrates Bad Girls Inc. by defeating and impersonating Diamondback, showcasing combat and subterfuge skills alongside Black Widow and Wasp.
Her development includes reconciling with former teammate Bruno after his defection from the Masters of Evil, culminating in her graduation as a full hero alongside the other Future Avengers at the series' conclusion.
