TV-Series
Description
Hiro is one of the main characters of the story, living in room 101 of the Hidamari Apartments. She is a year older than the protagonist Yuno and her classmate Miyako, making her a second-year student at Yamabuki Arts High School alongside her close friend Sae. Her hometown is in Yamagata Prefecture.

Physically, Hiro is a girl of average height with a slender frame and a fair complexion. She has distinctive curly, salmon-colored hair that she typically wears in two odango-style buns, and her hair is known to become frizzy on humid days. She is left-handed. Her image color is pink, and her symbol is one of her odango buns.

Hiro is characterized by her pleasant, gentle, and motherly demeanor, often acting as a caretaker and mentor figure to the younger residents of the Hidamari Apartments. Among the group, she is the most knowledgeable about the local area and often serves as a guide. While she is typically warm and sensitive, Miyako has a knack for pushing her buttons, which can lead to comedic reprisals. One of her most prominent and recurring traits is her constant, almost obsessive worry about her weight. This concern manifests in various diets and health kicks, which are consistently undermined by her love for cooking and her fondness for rich foods and sweets. This internal conflict between her culinary passions and her desire to be slim is a running source of humor, with visual gags like flashes of sumo wrestlers representing her panic attacks about gaining weight. Despite her worries, her weight gain is rarely noticeable due to the show's art style.

Hiro's role in the story centers on her supportive relationships with the other residents. She is an excellent cook, a skill she developed to look after Sae, and the other girls frequently gather in her room to share meals she has prepared. She shares an exceptionally close bond with Sae, and the other characters often tease them by referring to their dynamic as being like a married couple, with Hiro as the "wife" and caretaker. Hiro is often seen going out of her way to ensure Sae eats and sleeps properly, especially when Sae is stressed by writing deadlines. She has a notable weakness for not being a morning person; waking her up is difficult, and for a period after rising, she is groggy and only able to communicate in nonsensical sounds. In the past, she used to occupy room 203 but moved to room 101 specifically to be closer to Sae and take care of her. As a senior, she also looks after the younger Yuno, helping her grow out of her shy shell.

Throughout the series, Hiro's motivations evolve from simply enjoying her daily life to considering her future after graduation. Initially, more of her time is spent supporting others, particularly Sae, but she eventually determines her own career path. Inspired by her teacher, Ms. Yoshinoya, she sets a goal to become an art teacher. She experiences the stress of taking college entrance exams and is ultimately accepted into Ama Art University, her first-choice art school, which happens to be located near the university Sae chooses to attend. In terms of abilities, beyond her culinary skills, she is a capable artist, having chosen to focus on planes and 2-D art as her elective. She also has a history of helping the Landlady test various pieces of exercise equipment.
