Description
Hiroki Senō, known as Hiro, comes from a family of farmers participating in Venus's terraforming after an ice comet transformed the planet. His agricultural upbringing gives him direct experience with Venusian farming hardships, including frequent crop failures from extreme seasons, fueling skepticism toward government claims about habitability. This cynicism surfaces when he exposes state-funded terraforming as a fraudulent land grab to his girlfriend, Maggy, contradicting official stories.

As the hotshot leader of the Killer Commandos battle bike team, Hiro possesses exceptional skill piloting monocycles—single-wheeled motorcycles—in brutal, rollerball-inspired races. His natural talent includes high-speed evasion and tactical maneuvering, demonstrated by fleeing occupying forces while riding along highway guard rails. Personality-wise, he exhibits impulsiveness, stubbornness, and a refusal to submit to authority. He initially avoids involvement in the war between Venus's nations, Ishtar and Aphrodia, prioritizing personal freedom over politics.

The Ishtar invasion of his city, Io, shatters his life and forces gradual engagement. Discovering their manager is an arms smuggler, Hiro and the Killer Commandos raid an Ishtar tank garrison at their ruined stadium. This operation fails with casualties, requiring rescue by the Aphrodian Freedom Force. Hiro and his team are then forcibly conscripted into the resistance. His relationship with Lieutenant Kurtz starts antagonistically, marked by a lost monobike race challenge. Kurtz later offers Hiro’s teammates freedom in exchange for his service, leading to Hiro’s reluctant enlistment.

Hiro's motivations shift from self-preservation to duty after his teammate Will dies and he witnesses Ishtar occupation brutality. He participates in a critical assault on General Donner's forces, using his racing skills to outmaneuver and destroy the enemy command tank. This action contributes to Ishtar's defeat and Aphrodia's liberation. Post-conflict, he reconciles with Kurtz and receives the lieutenant's monobike as a gesture of respect. His story concludes reuniting with Maggy at a refugee camp, facilitated by her cat, Andrew.
