TV Special
Description
Igor presides over the Velvet Room, a space existing between consciousness and unconsciousness. Originally a doll animated by magic, he contemplates his existence and humanity. This curiosity drove him to create assistants like Margaret, Elizabeth, Theodore, and Lavenza, who share his interest in understanding human hearts. Across appearances, Igor consistently guides protagonists, facilitating Persona fusion, offering the Persona Compendium, and providing cryptic insights about challenges and bonds. He strictly adheres to a policy of non-interference, rarely issuing direct warnings or intervening in contractual events, believing humanity must demonstrate its own capabilities.

Before the events of *Persona 5 the Animation: Stars and Ours*, Igor and Lavenza were attacked by the being Yaldabaoth. Yaldabaoth imprisoned Igor, split Lavenza into the twin wardens Caroline and Justine, and assumed Igor's identity to manipulate the protagonist. This false Igor corrupted the Velvet Room into a prison, relocating it to the Depths of Mementos. Presenting himself as guiding the protagonist's "rehabilitation," the imposter referred to him as a "Prisoner of Fate" and foreshadowed ruin. His altered behavior and deeper voice, later revealed as manifestations of his true identity as Yaldabaoth, directed the protagonist under the guise of assistance.

The climax in *Stars and Ours* exposes the deception. The protagonist, acting as the Trickster, fuses Caroline and Justine back into Lavenza, breaking Yaldabaoth's control and freeing the real Igor. Igor confirms he made a bet with Yaldabaoth regarding humanity's potential, adhering to his non-interference principle even during captivity; he observed but did not intervene directly. Following Yaldabaoth's defeat, Igor resumes his role in the restored Velvet Room. His involvement concludes when the protagonist fulfills the contract, allowing Igor to use the power of the protagonist's social links to forge a Persona of the World Arcana, symbolizing the ability to change reality—a power he never anticipated witnessing.

Beyond this, Igor meets Shin Kanzato in *Persona -trinity soul-* as a fortune teller, referencing a prior Velvet Room meeting Shin never actually experienced with Persona fusion. Igor is also mentioned in *Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth*, where his absence causes Velvet Room instability, weakening attendants like Elizabeth. His foundational role remains constant: an observer and facilitator empowering protagonists while leaving their choices and consequences to their own resolve.
