Description
Wan Derbard, son of Tiger Tribe chieftain Shaba Derbard, hails from the northern hemisphere of a future Earth fractured into separate dimensions. He inherits leadership duties and a profound bond with his people's guardian, the Earth Lord Jinn—a sacred statue functioning as a combat mecha. Captured by humans from the rival southern hemisphere under Czar Master, Wan is imprisoned with other Beast warriors. He escapes thanks to Yuuni Charm Password, granddaughter of a sympathetic human scientist.

His physiology enables involuntary transformation into an anthropomorphic tiger triggered by sneezing. This grants enhanced combat prowess but occurs unpredictably, often during critical moments. Wan displays a hot-blooded, impulsive nature, frequently driven by righteous fury or frustration. He possesses a prodigious appetite; intense hunger can trigger feral behavior, compromising his judgment and endangering allies like Bud Mint. Despite this, he shows fierce loyalty to companions, assuming a protective role, especially toward Yuuni.

Wan forms a Power Trio with Bud Mint (Bird Tribe) and Mei Mer (Mermaid Tribe), jointly piloting their respective tribal Jinn mecha. These machines combine into a more powerful entity using Yuuni's spherical artifact, a capability strategically deployed against human pursuers like V-Darn and V-Sion. His journey centers on locating "Gaia," initially sought as treasure but revealed as a planetary supercomputer opposing Czar Master's Uranus system. This quest involves confronting escalating threats across OVA series, including the reprogrammed Yuuni (now S.P. Icegal) and awakened enemy Jinn.

Interpersonal dynamics include frequent clashes with the flirtatious Bud, a balanced partnership with the emotionally sensitive Mei Mer, and a guardianship role toward the turtle-like Tuttle Millen. His relationship with Yuuni evolves from gratitude for her initial rescue into a commitment to protect her significance within Gaia's cosmic conflict. Tribal heritage remains central to his identity, reflected in reverence for the Earth Lord Jinn and adherence to his father's leadership legacy.
