Description
Futaba Saotome, second eldest of the Saotome siblings, stands as a Valkyrie guarding Midgard against demonic incursions. Her tall frame, cerulean eyes, and short golden waves crowned by an ahoge complement her serene presence, eyes perpetually shut beneath a soft smile. Daily life sees her draped in a panda apron, radiating maternal warmth. When clad in her battle regalia—a white uniform accented by crimson stripes, cape, pleated skirt, stockings, visor cap, and utility belt—she transforms into a stalwart defender. Wielding the Holy Sword The Castle, she conjures vast protective barriers, though its lack of offensive force fuels her belief in her inferiority to her kin, despite her raw physical might.

Beneath her compassionate, dutiful exterior—manifest in her role as her sisters’ steadfast caretaker—lies a feral intensity that erupts in battle, sometimes spiraling into uncontrolled recklessness. Her narrative pivots on a calculated betrayal: severing protagonist Takuma Akutsu’s hand to claim his power, later replaced by an Asgardian prosthetic. This act underscores her conflicted psyche, torn between perceived fragility and dormant power, as her intervention to save Takuma in crisis hinges not on external aid but his own latent potential.

Her name, "Futaba" ("bud" or "two flat things") and "Saotome" ("early maiden"), mirrors her duality—youthful tenderness entwined with ancient duty. Her journey grapples with insecurity, familial obligation, and the clash between her shield-bearing role and battlefield demands for aggression, crafting her as a layered figure balancing defense and destruction.
