Movie
Description
Jibanyan is a red-and-white cat Yo-kai born from the death of a domestic cat named Rudy, once owned by a girl named Amy. Rudy perished after a truck struck him at an intersection while trying to follow Amy. Misinterpreting Amy's subsequent grief as criticism of his weakness, he transformed into a Yo-kai bound to the location of his demise. His primary motivation became training to defeat trucks, attempting to possess humans to force confrontations at the intersection to prove his strength.

He exhibits a blend of determination and laziness, showing fierce resolve in pursuits like truck combat or defending friends, yet frequently slacking off during unimportant tasks or when leisure is interrupted. He possesses strong attachments, particularly to Chocobar snacks and the idol group Next HarMEOWny, collecting merchandise and dreaming of owning a chocolate factory.

In combat, Jibanyan primarily uses physical claw attacks. His signature Soultimate Move is "Paws of Fury" (Hyakuretsu Nikukyū), involving rapid paw strikes. As a Fire-attribute Yo-kai, he employs fire-based techniques. He cannot evolve naturally but undergoes fusion transformations: combining with Roughraff creates Baddinyan, fusing with Coughkoff results in Thornyan, and fusion with Whisper produces Buchinyan. Additional Soultimate Moves accessible via special medals include "Nyaight," "Nyext," and "Victory," said to be inherited family techniques.

His core story involves meeting Nate Adams at the fatal intersection. Nate intervened in Jibanyan's reckless truck fighting, offering comfort and acknowledging his bravery. This kindness led Jibanyan to befriend Nate, presenting him with his Yo-kai Medal and moving into Nate's home. Initial household disturbances improved after Nate saved him from exorcism.

A pivotal development occurred when malicious Yo-kai Kin and Gin sent him back in time to relive his death. He discovered Amy had called *herself* "lame" out of guilt, not criticized him. Crucially, he learned he had sacrificed himself to push Amy out of the truck's path. Rejecting the chance to alter history, he reaffirmed his choice to save her, resolving the misunderstanding.

In later narratives like Yo-kai Watch Shadowside, Jibanyan encountered Miho, revealed as Amy's daughter. Protecting Miho from Shinigami restored lost memories of Amy and his sacrifice, briefly reverting him to his living cat form. This event triggered a transformation into his Shadowside state, which he used to fulfill Amy's request to accompany Miho on a bike ride. Pieces of his body from this battle formed the separate Yo-kai Junior.

Jibanyan maintains key relationships: a close yet occasionally irritable bond with Nate, who frequently summons him first; a light-hearted rivalry with Whisper involving frequent bickering; and a competitive friendship with Tomnyan, debating cultural superiority. He also interacts with Komasan, who admires his power and desires fusion to become Jibakoma.

In the Yo-kai Watch♪ anime continuity, featured in the movie "Yo-kai Watch♪ Keita to Orecchi no Deai-hen da Nyan♪", Jibanyan's initial encounter with Nate was re-depicted, reinforcing his origin story and the establishment of their partnership. The film incorporated his core backstory elements, including his death, transformation, and motivation.

Further developments include his role in Y School Heroes: Bustlin' School Life, where he was reincarnated as a human boy named Jinpei Jiba following his death as a Yo-kai.
