Description
Takeru Higa, a prodigious engineer spearheading Project Alicization’s Soul Translator under Kikuoka Seijirou in Rath, applies his near-genius intellect to cultivate artificial fluctlights within the Underworld. A Tohto University alumnus from the Shigemura Laboratory, his academic lineage intertwines with pioneers Akihiko Kayaba, Rinko Kojiro, and Nobuyuki Sugou. Despite his unassuming stature, spiky blonde hair, and penchant for anime-themed casualwear, his technical prowess and IQ of 140 anchor his reputation.

Motivated by the death of a Korean comrade in an Iraqi suicide bombing, he channeled grief into advancing military AI. During the Ocean Turtle crisis, Yanai’s betrayal left him wounded, yet he tenaciously restored Soul Translator access for Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, and Sinon, later reviving Kirito by merging Eugeo’s residual fluctlight data.

Initially dismissive of Underworld inhabitants as code, witnessing Administrator’s psychological coercion, Eugeo’s final message to Kirito, and the enduring sovereignty of the Star King and Queen reshaped his stance. Kirito’s egalitarian rapport with fluctlights solidified his acceptance of their humanity.

Post-incident, Higa covertly retained a deleted copy of the Star King’s fluctlight, haunted by ethical remorse yet driven by scientific curiosity. He later joined efforts to locate a replicated Kayaba, aiming to shield the Underworld while anticipating the clash between Kayaba’s legacy and Kirito’s digital echoes. His journey reflects a pivot from detached innovation to confronting the moral labyrinth of synthetic consciousness.
