Description
Tsubasa Kazanari, a Japanese teenager born May 25, 2025, stands 167 cm tall with blue hair and indigo eyes. She hails from the prominent Kazanari family: Fudo Kazanari is her biological father and grandfather, Yatsuhiro Kazanari her father and biological older half-brother, and Genjuro Kazanari her uncle and biological older half-brother.
A shy and reserved child, Tsubasa harbored dual aspirations: becoming a pop star while honoring her family's swordswoman legacy. Low self-esteem shadowed her childhood until meeting Kanade Amou, her future partner in the idol duo Zwei Wing. Kanade's vibrant energy drew Tsubasa out of her shell, forging a deep bond as they fought Noise using Symphogear armor powered by song. Tsubasa wielded the relic Ame-no-Habakiri, manifesting a katana.
Tragedy struck during a Zwei Wing concert when Noise attacked the audience. Kanade sacrificed herself, singing a Superb Song to defeat them, an act that shattered Tsubasa. Consumed by trauma, she adopted a cold, aloof demeanor, viewing herself solely as a weapon. She rejected overseas singing contracts, vowing to sing only on battlefields. Learning Hibiki Tachibana possessed fragments of Kanade's Gungnir relic, Tsubasa initially refused her as a partner, even slapping Hibiki for suggesting she could replace Kanade.
Near-fatal injuries sustained battling Nehushtan Armor user Chris Yukine hospitalized Tsubasa. During recovery, a spiritual conversation with Kanade urged her to "spread her wings." This prompted Tsubasa to open up emotionally. She apologized for her past behavior and formed bonds with Hibiki, Chris, and others. Resuming her singing career, she accepted international performances while continuing to fight as part of S.O.N.G.
Despite her emotional growth, Tsubasa retained a blunt, humorless communication style and exhibited notable absent-mindedness in daily life. She neglected cleaning her living spaces and misunderstood social cues, like mosquito repellent use or rock-paper-scissors gestures. Unintentionally harsh comments surfaced, such as telling imprisoned allies they looked "well-rounded" from prison food. She maintained strict discipline, avoiding food after 9 PM to preserve her figure, and displayed intense focus on combat and music, often neglecting practical life skills.
In later conflicts, Tsubasa demonstrated fierce loyalty. She acted coldly toward Hibiki to discourage her from using life-threatening Gungnir fusion, driven by fear of losing another partner. A notable rapport developed with fellow Symphogear user Maria Cadenzavna Eve. Their interactions included Tsubasa declaring "I'll hear your story in bed!" during combat, blushing when Maria grabbed her arm, holding hands, carrying Maria in battle, and offering to buy her birthday clothes while stating, "Despite how it may seem, I consider you an important part of my life."
As a fighter, Tsubasa relied on precise swordsmanship and agility, enhanced by Ogawa Shinji's ninja training, making her the fastest Symphogear user. She modified her relic's form, switched gear versions, and performed techniques like Shadow Stitching. Her Superb Song, Soaring Phoenix, served as a kamikaze attack to destroy the Kadingir tower, though Hibiki later saved her. She undertook high-stakes missions, including preventing a lunar impact and intercepting a rocket in outer space.
