TV-Series
Description
Mametchi stands as the central character and franchise mascot, instantly recognizable by his light yellow color, large black eyes, and animal-like ears. Possessing exceptional intelligence with an IQ of 250, his personality is serious, polite, and diligent. He excels academically and channels his intellect into inventing gadgets, though these creations frequently malfunction or explode. Conversely, he exhibits significant weaknesses in artistic endeavors, particularly singing—described as tone-deaf and capable of disrupting machinery—and painting.
His family consists of parents Pamamametchi and Papamametchi, and a younger sister, Chamametchi. Chamametchi hatched from an egg Mametchi risked his life to retrieve from a dangerous location. While fiercely protective of her, this instinct occasionally clashes with moments of frustration, such as blaming her for accidents during critical missions. His closest childhood friends remain Memetchi and Kuchipatchi. He also forms meaningful bonds with characters like Lovelitchi, whom he supports despite her concealed celebrity identity, and Himespetchi, who harbors unreciprocated romantic feelings for him.
Within *Yume Kira Dream*, Mametchi studies abroad in Dream Town alongside Memetchi and Kuchipatchi. He enrolls in the robotics class at Dream School. Initially homestaying with the elderly Ikaritchi, who treats him poorly, their relationship eventually improves. After Ikaritchi departs to sell apples, Mametchi moves in with Pianitchi at Music Cafe. His storyline involves navigating academic challenges and supporting new acquaintances, including aspiring idols Yumemitchi and Kiraritchi.
Beyond this series, Mametchi participates in significant events across the anime. He helps save Tamagotchi Planet from an "egg curse" threatening to transform all inhabitants into emotionless eggs, emphasizing the value of friendship to revive the despairing Kizunatchi. He later invents the "DreamTama Rainbow" for planetary travel and aids future characters Miraitchi and Clulutchi in retrieving Dreambakutchis to return to their timeline. During the millennium event "Tamagottsun," he reunites with friends after Tama Town and Dream Town merge.
The film *Tamagotchi: The Movie* explores his deep-seated fear of darkness, stemming from a childhood incident. To cope, he creates Mamesunnytchi, a personal sun. This act inadvertently causes the planet's sun, Sunnitchi, to depart, plunging Tamagotchi Planet into cold and illness. During a space mission to rectify this, Mametchi confronts his phobia when facing the black hole entity Blackholetchi, ultimately using courage and teamwork to awaken it and save his friends.
Notable flaws include a short temper, particularly under stress, evident when he harshly reprimands Chamametchi for spacecraft mishaps. He also displays occasional mischievousness, such as conspiring to frighten younger characters as revenge for pranks.
