Description
Mikan Shiratama is a character introduced during the second season of the PriPara series, which includes the film Gekijō-ban PriPara Mi~nna Atsumare! Prism Tours. In her everyday life, she attends Paprika Private Academy as an elementary school student, but when she enters the PriPara world, her appearance transforms to resemble a middle school student. She is classified as a Lovely Type Idol and primarily uses the Silky Heart brand.
Mikan’s personality is consistently cheerful, optimistic, and easygoing. She carries an angelic persona, often presenting herself as a messenger of God who bestows blessings and lifts curses, and she frequently ends her sentences with the phrase “na no” and uses “jeru~” as an exclamation. Despite this theatrical role, Mikan does not take herself too seriously; she often forgets her scripted lines and approaches her angelic identity as a playful performance rather than a deep conviction. She is a natural athlete, displaying exceptional jumping ability and overall physical prowess, and she has an enormous appetite, particularly for meat buns, which she consumes voraciously.
Mikan’s motivations are closely tied to her partnership with Aroma Kurosu. The two met in nursery school and bonded over their shared dream of becoming idols. When Aroma expressed reluctance because she was not confident in her singing voice, Mikan encouraged her, and they eventually formed the duo Aromageddon, an angel‑and‑devil themed unit. Mikan’s role in the story is primarily as Aroma’s partner and friend, and later, when the vocal doll Gaaruru joins them, the group becomes Gaarmageddon. In the narrative of the film Prism Tours, Mikan appears as one of the many idols participating in the grand Prism Tours event, contributing to the ensemble cast of characters who perform together and work toward common goals.
Her key relationship is with Aroma Kurosu, with whom she shares a strong, close bond. While she initially seems to just follow Aroma around, their partnership is built on mutual trust and support. Mikan also interacts with other main idols such as Laala Manaka, Dorothy West, and Mirei Minami, forming temporary teams, including the PriPara Police and the FriendAll team, during various story arcs. Throughout her development, Mikan remains fairly consistent in her cheerful demeanor, but she shows a willingness to cooperate with others and take on different roles as needed, whether lifting curses or performing in high‑stakes idol competitions.
Notable abilities include her remarkable physical agility, especially her jumping height, which aids her performances. Her angel‑themed idol persona comes with signature gestures and blessings that add to her stage presence. However, she also has a distinct weakness: she becomes completely frozen when encountering snakes. Mikan’s love for food sometimes overrides her composure, causing her to act impulsively when meals are involved. Overall, Mikan Shiratama is a lighthearted, energetic idol whose angelic act and devoted friendship with Aroma form the core of her character.
