Yui Watanabe is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on December 4, 1988, in Minoh, Osaka Prefecture. Her path to a voice acting career began during high school when she won the JTB Award at a Voice Newtype magazine audition, which provided a pathway into the industry despite initial family concerns. To fund her move to Tokyo and pursue her dream, she worked multiple part-time jobs. She entered the JTB Entertainment Academy in 2008 and, in August 2009, joined the female idol unit Hoshi no Otome Kagekidan. After graduating from the training school, she affiliated with a talent agency and made her professional debut in October 2010 as the voice of Sorakara-chan, the official character for the Tokyo Skytree. She also became a regular on the television program Hougen Kanojo around this time.
