Description
Minami Nitta is a university student from Hiroshima Prefecture who balances her studies with her work as an idol at 346 Production. She is nineteen years old and a freshman in college, where she serves as the captain of her school’s lacrosse team. Before entering the idol industry, she won a beauty pageant, an achievement that reflects her poised and accomplished nature. Her hobbies include playing lacrosse and collecting professional qualifications, and she has a deep fondness for the ocean and aquariums, an interest inherited from her father, who works as an oceanographer.

Minami is often described as a natural big sister figure. She is gentle, responsible, and caring, especially toward her younger brother, who looks up to her, and she maintains a close, protective relationship with her father. She is hardworking and highly capable, excelling both academically and athletically, yet she initially carried a sense of uncertainty about her true direction in life. The opportunity to become an idol came during this period of self‑doubt, and she embraced it as a new experience that might help her discover what she truly wanted to pursue. Her motivation to try many different things drives her to take on challenges with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

In the anime adaptation of The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Minami is appointed the leader of the Cinderella Project, a role that highlights her sense of responsibility and her ability to guide others. She is paired with Anastasia in the unit Love Laika, and the two develop a close working relationship built on mutual respect and trust. In the game’s narrative, she also partners with Kanade Hayami in the unit Dea Aurora within Starlight Stage. Her interactions with her producer are marked by deep trust, though in the original mobile game her character includes a more assertive, sometimes flirtatious side when seeking the producer’s attention; the anime portrays her as consistently kind and sincere without that darker edge.

Over the course of the story, Minami grows from a diligent but uncertain student into a confident performer who embraces her identity as an idol. She learns to express herself more openly on stage and takes pride in her ability to embody different roles in performances, showing strong expressive range. Her natural intelligence and athleticism give her a solid foundation, and she is known for her clear singing voice and graceful dance moves. She often blushes when embarrassed, especially about revealing costumes, but she trusts her producer’s judgment and works hard to deliver captivating shows. Her dedication to her family, her supportive relationships with fellow idols, and her steady personal development make her a reliable and respected member of the Cinderella Project.
