Description
Shiki Ichinose, a teenager initially unaware of his Oni heritage, discovers his true nature when attacked by Momotarou operative Samidare Momoya. This confrontation forces his adoptive father, Tsuyoshi Ichinose—a former Momotaro Agency member who abandoned his post to raise the orphaned infant Shiki—to reveal the truth. Tsuyoshi sacrifices his life to save Shiki, triggering Shiki's first Oni awakening and igniting a fierce desire for revenge against Samidare.
Physically, Shiki has an average height and build, blue-black tousled hair, blue eyes, and distinctive twin moles beneath his left eye. His Oni lineage manifests as upward-curving, bovine-like horns during power activation. He typically wears the standard Rasetsu Academy uniform without accessories.
His personality exhibits a rough, confrontational demeanor and vulgar speech patterns, often masking deeper vulnerabilities. He possesses a pronounced fascination with weaponry, especially firearms. Following his father's death, Shiki demonstrates capacity for growth, gradually accepting criticism and developing empathy. His initial singular focus on vengeance expands to include forming meaningful relationships with peers at Rasetsu Academy.
Shiki's primary abilities stem from Blood Eclipse Release, enabling him to manipulate his blood to create firearms. Initially limited to manifesting one weapon at a time, his proficiency grows to simultaneously generating two firearms in combat, and eventually multiple weapons during heightened states. As one of the eight "Children of the Kishin," he wields the Enki (fire) elemental attribute, granting fire resistance and the ability to envelop his body in flames during attacks. This Kishin lineage provides explosive power with minimal blood usage, though it causes physical strain.
His most volatile power is a Berserk State, first triggered during his initial awakening where he manifested twelve firearms. During intense combat later, this state escalated to seventeen firearms. His combat capabilities include Building-level physical strength and durability, potentially reaching Small City-level in enhanced forms, evidenced by feats like generating rainstorms and surviving organ-destroying injuries aided by Low-Mid regeneration. Speed ranges from Supersonic to Hypersonic, amplified in Kishin or Berserk forms. His weapon range extends several kilometers.
Key relationships define his journey. His bond with Tsuyoshi Ichinose forms his emotional core, with Tsuyoshi's grave on Onigashima serving as a recurring touchpoint for Shiki's resolve. At Rasetsu Academy, instructor Naito Mudano provides guidance, while classmate Jin Kougasaki evolves from an initial rival to a trusted ally through shared battles. Shiki's primary antagonist remains Samidare Momoya, the catalyst for his quest for vengeance. He also develops a rivalry with Mikado Momodera, representing the opposing Momotarou faction's ideology.
Across his development, Shiki transitions from uncontrolled rage following his father's death to measured discipline through training at Rasetsu Academy. Missions alongside classmates foster teamwork and trust, gradually tempering his impulsiveness. While revenge against Samidare remains a motivator, his objectives broaden to include mastering his abilities and confronting the legacy of his dual heritage.
Official media beyond the core manga includes the 2025 anime adaptation and an announced game adaptation. The spin-off manga launching in 2025 does not yet contain material relevant to his documented progression.
