Once a companion to the alien Phoenix (Akai Tsubasa), he was marooned on Earth millennia ago when their spacecraft malfunctioned, crashing and scattering their jewel-like food supply worldwide. Sealed apart for ages, Hosshii remained trapped within an Egyptian pharaoh’s temple until phantom thief Joker liberated him while securing the Crystal Skull Key.

Driven by a voracious appetite for valuables, Hosshii devours treasures to generate eggs that hatch into mission-critical tools. Consuming alien relics tied to Phoenix’s ship yields Guidance Stones and navigational charts, whereas Earthly treasures produce utilitarian items like spring wires. This process grants him faint precognition, as the spawned objects frequently preempt solutions to imminent obstacles.

Originally Phoenix’s navigator, Hosshii allies with Joker’s crew post-rescue, bonding with Hachi despite Joker’s aversion to cat-like beings. His loyalty hinges on treasure access, fueling friction during heists, yet his knack for discerning authentic artifacts proves indispensable.

Hosshii’s story culminates in reclaiming Phoenix’s ship, reuniting him with his ancient partner. His contributions directly enable pivotal missions, from securing all five Guidance Stones to uncovering the vessel’s coordinates.

Fixated on consuming valuables, he disregards orders unless treasures reside within hazards like sabertooth statues, where he meticulously devours only safe portions. Secondary quirks include a fondness for konpeitō candy, a Phoenix-mirrored fear of water, and vulnerability to sedation via magnets.
