Description
Rea Masaki, an artificial human engineered by Geminar’s Senshi Civilization as one of three preteen pilots for Seikijin mechas in the war against Gaia, was thrust into an unforeseen destiny when a mission directive demanded one unit be dispatched to Earth to birth a child merging artificial and summoned warrior lineages. Though Neizai had been selected, a mishap during equipment testing hurled Rea to Earth instead, where Kiyone Masaki discovered and sheltered her. Under Kiyone’s guidance, Rea adapted to terrestrial life, evolving into the family’s ward and an adoptive sister to Kiyone, mastering domestic arts that mirrored her mentor’s methods.

After Kiyone’s passing, Rea stepped into a maternal role for Tenchi Masaki, blurring his recollections of his biological mother with her nurturing presence. This entanglement unraveled when Rea disclosed Kiyone’s fabricated tale of her own demise—a comedic narrative meant to console Tenchi—prompting him to distinguish Rea’s formative influence. Later marrying Nobuyuki Masaki, Rea became Tenchi’s stepmother and bore Kenshi Masaki, her pregnancy chronicled in *Tenchi Muyo! GXP*, with subsequent OVAs expanding on Kenshi’s upbringing and the family’s preparations for his Geminar-bound fate.

A dormant failsafe in Rea’s programming compelled her to dispatch Kenshi to Geminar under threat of self-termination, overriding her maternal instincts until his departure freed her from the directive. The aftermath saw her collapse under the weight of suppressed fears for his survival. Her origins resurfaced in *Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar*, where Kenshi’s journey to her birthplace exposed her ties to Neizai—the intended candidate—and lingering friction from Rea’s unintended usurpation of Neizai’s destiny.

Rea’s arc intertwined with pivotal Masaki family moments, mediating tensions between Tenchi and Nobuyuki and aiding in rebuilding their home after Mihoshi’s accidental demolition. Her wedding kimono, inherited from Kiyone, became a symbol of legacy, embodying familial continuity and destined to pass to Tenchi’s sister Tennyo in time.
