Description
Ayeka Masaki Jurai, First Princess of the Jurai Imperial Family, is the daughter of Emperor Azusa Masaki Jurai and his second wife, Misaki Masaki Jurai. Her centuries-long quest focused on locating her missing half-brother and former fiancé, Prince Yosho, who vanished battling the space pirate Ryoko. This search led her to enter suspended animation for approximately 700 years, preserving her biological age within the 17-20 year range.

Her personality blends aristocratic refinement and formal manners, a product of royal upbringing, with a fiercely protective instinct towards her younger sister Sasami and loved ones like Tenchi Masaki. A defining volatile temper surfaces most frequently during clashes with Ryoko, frequently escalating into physical confrontations. This deep-seated rivalry originates from Ryoko's attack on Jurai centuries prior, which Ayeka blames for Yosho's disappearance, and is further fueled by their ongoing competition for Tenchi's affections. Despite this antagonism, Ayeka demonstrates capacity for temporary cooperation with Ryoko during crises threatening Tenchi.

Genetically modified, Ayeka altered her originally blue, curly hair to resemble Funaho Jurai (Yosho's mother and Azusa's first wife), whom she idolized, aiming to appeal to Yosho who viewed Funaho as the ideal woman. Her childhood personality reflected her mother Misaki's tomboyishness, but she consciously adopted Funaho's calm and elegant demeanor, suppressing her natural inclinations.

Her abilities derive from Juraian royal lineage and her bond with the second-generation Royal Tree, Ryu-Oh. This connection grants extended lifespan, superhuman strength, flight, energy projection, and telekinetic force fields capable of restraining powerful entities like Ryoko or Kagato. Ryu-Oh functions as both a sentient treeship and combat system, generating three Light Hawk Wings for defense and offense. Ayeka piloted it against Ryoko's attack on Jurai Castle Tenju at age 14, despite incomplete synchronization. Though Ryu-Oh was destroyed during her arrival on Earth and later by Kagato, the goddess Tsunami provided a seed for its regeneration.

Discovering Tenchi Masaki's heritage as Yosho's descendant initiates their relationship. Ayeka notices similarities between Tenchi and Yosho during their interactions, culminating in romantic feelings during a shared encounter at Yosho's Royal Tree, Funaho. Yosho later transfers his betrothal arrangement with Ayeka to Tenchi, approving their union. Their relationship progresses across official media to marriage and pregnancy in later OVAs.

Her character arc varies across continuities. The primary OVA timeline depicts her transition from aristocratic rigidity to gradual acceptance of Earth life and Tenchi's household dynamics. Alternate timelines like Tenchi Universe show her intentionally crashing her ship upon mistakenly believing Tenchi and Ryoko are romantically involved. The Tenchi in Tokyo continuity portrays her as more emotionally volatile yet perceptive, recognizing external forces manipulating Tenchi's relationships. Spin-offs like Pretty Sammy reimagine her as Romio, an antagonist seeking magical domination after failing as a magical girl candidate.

Her martial prowess remains consistent; trained by Misaki, considered Jurai's greatest martial artist, Ayeka overcomes Galaxy Police officers and matches Kagato in combat. Tenchi acknowledges her superior fighting skills during sparring sessions, admitting she overwhelms him.
