Description
Clarus Tonitrus is a fifteen-year-old operative within Fatima, a clandestine exorcism branch of the Vatican’s Anti-Creed service, dedicated to eliminating demonic entities known as Nights. Trained from early childhood in combat, she possesses keen intelligence and deep knowledge of higher-dimensional beings and tactical engagement. Her appearance is marked by blonde hair and blue eyes.
She operates under the supervision of a Fatima priest and is frequently accompanied by her handler, Cariot. Clarus exhibits superhuman physical traits, heightened senses, and undergoes Divine Union—a transformative fusion with a higher-dimensional god that grants her teleportation, dimensional travel, forcefield generation, electricity manipulation, existence erasure, and resistance to dimensional or temporal interference. She is equipped with a staff and armor, and sometimes employs swords or pistols to banish foes to higher dimensions.
Her past collaboration with Flors Oriens ended when Flors, advocating peace with Nights, was incapacitated by a Night called Creed Killer. This event left Clarus deeply scarred, driving her to pursue the annihilation of Nights without mercy. Believing her openness toward Flors was a fatal weakness, she refused further partnerships and withdrew emotionally, losing her ability to smile. She harbored hatred toward Creed Killer until Flors eventually awakened, easing her anguish.
Clarus maintains a stoic, serious demeanor and struggles with socialization due to her upbringing and trauma. She remains guarded and mission-focused, though she gradually forges a bond with fellow exorcist Matoi Sumeragi. Their interactions include Clarus purging a demon targeting Matoi, accidentally damaging Matoi’s clothing to confirm her divine nature, feeling embarrassment at Matoi’s compliments, sharing a bed, and clasping hands before dimensional travel. Despite drawing attention for her attractiveness, Clarus remains distant toward civilians.
In combat, she demonstrates exceptional stamina, proficiency, and versatility, with building-level attack and durability, and speed ranging from supersonic to hypersonic. She can navigate dimensions up to the 15th, though exceeding her god’s limits risks self-erasure. Her techniques include Quaedum Fulmen, enhancing her electrical abilities, and banishing enemies to higher dimensions to minimize collateral damage.
Over time, Clarus experiences emotional growth through her relationship with Matoi and Flors’ recovery, allowing her to confront her past trauma and find relief.
