Description
Baltra Liones reigns as the eleventh king of Liones. His innate power, Vision, grants prophetic dreams revealing future events: the inevitability of the Holy War, the emergence of the Seven Deadly Sins as the kingdom's protectors, and even Elizabeth's eventual adoption years before her arrival.
Twenty-seven years before the main events, Meliodas brought Elizabeth to Liones after Danafor's destruction. Baltra adopted her, treating her with the same affection as his biological daughters, Margaret and Veronica, despite knowing her origins. His dedication as a father was evident when he risked injury climbing a tree to rescue her. Their bond remained strong, proven by an emotional reunion after her presumed death.
In his youth, Baltra witnessed his sister Nadja form a bond with Gowther, whom she discovered beneath the castle. To protect Gowther and honor Nadja's wishes, Baltra disguised him as a maid, inadvertently establishing Gowther's crossdressing habits. After Nadja's peaceful death, Baltra defended Gowther against execution. He also demonstrated compassion by rescuing a young Slader from barbarians. Mentoring Slader, Baltra instilled human values, earning the boy's lifelong loyalty as a Holy Knight.
As king, Baltra leveraged his Vision to create the Seven Deadly Sins. Sharing his premonition of seven knights safeguarding the kingdom with Meliodas and Zaratras led Merlin to identify the members. Baltra officially knighted them, providing each with a Sacred Treasure. Opposing the Holy Knights' warmongering, he ordered them to lay down arms to prevent the Holy War. This resulted in a coup where he was imprisoned. Following Liones' liberation by the Seven Deadly Sins, he absolved them of treason charges and reinstated their honors.
During the Ten Commandments' resurgence, Baltra appointed Howzer acting Grandmaster Holy Knight to lead Liones' defenses. Privately, he conveyed another vision to the Sins: their reunion would occur under a midday moon with low fog in the capital, guiding their strategy against the demons. While disapproving of Meliodas' inappropriate behavior toward Elizabeth, Baltra trusted him as her protector. Ultimately, he supported their relationship, expressing eagerness for them to rule as king and queen despite occasional frustrations with Meliodas' evasiveness.
Baltra's leadership prioritized peace and family. His regrets included permitting Hendrickson and Dreyfus to travel to Danafor, indirectly enabling their corruption. His vulnerabilities centered on his daughters, and his aspirations focused solely on restoring and preserving Liones' stability.
