Description
Galand is a member of the Demon Clan's elite Ten Commandments, bearing the title "Galand the Truth" after receiving the Commandment of Truth from the Demon King. This commandment petrifies anyone who knowingly tells a lie in his presence, a power that also affects Galand himself if he violates its condition. His physical appearance resembles red armored plating, which is his actual body rather than worn armor.
During the Holy War 3,000 years ago, Galand fought under the Demon King alongside fellow Commandments. He joined a mission to rescue demon hostages held in the Fairy King's Forest, where negotiations led by the goddess Elizabeth collapsed after the Archangel Ludociel executed the hostages. In the ensuing battle against the Archangels Tarmiel and Sariel, Galand supported Derieri but was overpowered and forced to flee alongside Fraudrin when Derieri and Monspeet transformed into Indura. The Demon Clan ultimately lost the war, and Galand was sealed within the Coffin of Eternal Darkness.
After being resurrected in the present era due to Hendrickson weakening the seal, Galand and the other Ten Commandments retreated to Edinburgh Hill to recover their depleted magical power. Ignoring Zeldris's caution about restraint, he journeyed to Camelot in 72 leaps, eager to battle powerful opponents. There, he confronted the Seven Deadly Sins and Camelot's Holy Knights, effortlessly overwhelming them. His Commandment petrified Merlin when she attempted to deceive him, and he seemingly killed Meliodas after the latter unleashed his demonic power. Unbeknownst to Galand, this victory was an illusion fabricated by Gowther, who altered his memory.
Galand possesses immense physical strength, with a base power level of 27,000 (24,000 in strength). His innate ability, Critical Over, temporarily boosts his strength to its absolute limit, raising his power level to 40,000 until his magic is exhausted. He wields a double-sided spear called Halberd and employs several combat techniques: Zanbarazan (a ground-shattering leap attack), Bassari (a decisive cleaving strike), and Bunzaradan (a whirlwind of explosive slashes). His demonic physiology grants him seven hearts and regenerative capabilities, allowing him to reattach severed limbs using his shadow-like substance.
Personality-wise, Galand revels in destruction, sadism, and battle, expressing delight upon learning strong opponents still existed after his sealing. He holds a particular hatred for mages, claiming they ruin his enjoyment of combat. Despite his ruthlessness, he occasionally displays honor, such as allowing Ban a free strike after underestimating him. He also shows camaraderie, notably with Melascula, whom he protected during the Holy War, and enjoys alcohol, noting its improved quality over the centuries.
Galand's defeat came during a confrontation with Escanor. At night, he initiated the "Galand Game," a turn-based duel, while Escanor was in his weaker state. However, at sunrise, Escanor's power surged, terrifying Galand into breaking his oath not to flee. This violation of his own truthful promise activated his Commandment, turning him to stone.
Later, Galand resurfaced as "Chaos Galand" after being resurrected to serve Arthur Pendragon. He fused with Melascula to become "Melagaland," tasked with defeating the Four Knights of the Apocalypse and cementing his role as an adversary to Ban and Jericho.
