Meray, known as Heureka in some regions, is a central human character. She is Baraz's younger sister and Ghris's great-granddaughter – Ghris being the one who sealed Hoopa's destructive Unbound form in the Prison Bottle a century ago. Meray shares the inherited duty of safeguarding Hoopa's confined state and containing its powers with her brother. Her bond with Hoopa began in childhood. Young Meray and Baraz lived in a desert village where Hoopa resided with them. They formed a close connection through play and Hoopa's ring-based teleportation pranks, building mutual trust and affection as part of their family, a tradition initiated by Ghris. When Hoopa's Unbound form escapes the Prison Bottle in Dahara City, unleashing its rage and dominating the original Hoopa, Meray helps confront the crisis. This Unbound form wreaks havoc by summoning and controlling legendary Pokémon including Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Kyurem. Meray allies with Ash and his friends. A critical action involves her participation in a ritual at Dahara Tower to recreate the shattered Prison Bottle, harnessing elemental energies: fire from Serena's Braixen, water from Ash's Frogadier, and earth from a wild Hippopotas. Meray and Baraz possess a lineage-derived connection, enabling them to channel a protective golden light linked to Arceus. They use this defensively against Hoopa Unbound. Later, when Ash becomes possessed by the Unbound form after retrieving the recreated bottle, Meray's deep bond proves crucial. Witnessing Ash's possession, Hoopa Confined directly shares a century of cherished memories – especially those of happiness and acceptance with Meray, Baraz, and Ghris – with its enraged shadow self. This act calms the shadow, dissolves its anger, and allows reintegration, freeing Ash. After the conflict, Meray continues as Hoopa's caretaker. This experience helps Hoopa overcome the emotional barrier preventing it from traveling through its own rings. Hoopa reaffirms its bond with Meray and Baraz before departing to help rebuild Dahara Tower. Meray's compassion, dedication to her family duty, and inherited role are central to Hoopa's development and the conflict's resolution.
