Citro travels with Ash Ketchum, Serena, and his sister Bonnie through the Kalos region. In a desert city by the sea, the group encounters the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, whose magic rings summon objects, people, and Pokémon, including its favorite donuts, to the companions' surprise and enjoyment. Citro witnesses the escalating events in Désser City triggered by Hoopa's past actions. This includes the emergence of the significant threat posed by powerful legendary Pokémon like Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Kyurem, placing the city in extreme danger. He observes Hoopa summon additional legendary Pokémon to counter this threat and protect the city. Citro's role throughout these incidents remains consistent as a traveling companion present within the main group.
