Description
Nyarth, also known as Meowth, is a Pokémon and member of Team Rocket who works alongside Jessie and James. Unlike others of its species, it can speak human language and walk upright on its hind legs—abilities it gained through intense self-training early in life. This unique development came at a cost, as it never learned to use its species' signature move, Pay Day.

Its history traces back to infancy as a normal Meowth starving at Camp Pokéhearst. After escaping to Hollywood, it joined a gang of Meowth led by a Persian. There, it fell in love with a female Meowth named Meowzie and trained relentlessly to speak and walk like a human in hopes of impressing her. Meowzie rejected it, deeming these traits unnatural. Heartbroken, it sought fame and fortune elsewhere and was eventually recruited by a Team Rocket grunt and brought to the organization's headquarters.

Its initial performance as a solo agent for Giovanni proved unsuccessful, leading to reassignment into a trio with Jessie and James. Together, they frequently pursue rare and powerful Pokémon, most notably Ash Ketchum's Pikachu. Although a Pokémon, it does not reside in a Poké Ball and is technically considered wild.

Its relationship with Jessie and James is multifaceted; though they have called it a friend, they have also prioritized missions like capturing Pikachu over its safety. Despite occasional conflicts, including a temporary departure to work in a ramen restaurant, the trio consistently reunites and remains loyal.

In the events of *Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life*, it appears alongside Jessie and James powering a blimp by pedaling a bicycle until exhaustion causes a crash. The trio is present when Arceus arrives to inspect the fake Jewel of Life and are caught in the ensuing explosion, washed into a lake. It makes minor appearances during the battle among legendary Pokémon and is shown in the credits being blasted by an Electrode's Explosion while sneaking into a corn field.

Ambitious, conniving, and idealistic, its primary goal is to please Giovanni. It rarely engages in battle, often citing its investment in human-like traits as the reason for its lack of combat skill. When forced to fight, it relies on resourcefulness. It has used its claws for non-combat purposes such as lock-picking and creating ice sculptures.
