After rejection, he joined Team Rocket as a core member alongside Jessie and James, following a past in a stray Meowth gang led by a Persian. As Team Rocket’s strategic planner, Nyarth devises schemes to steal Pokémon—especially Pikachu—while often fantasizing about Giovanni’s approval. His skills include lock-picking, piloting diverse vehicles, and translating between humans and Pokémon.

In *Pikachu no Summer Bridge Story*, Nyarth targets fruits gathered by Pikachu’s group, aided by Woobat and Yamask. He employs pitfall traps, repurposes a surfboard to cross rivers, and commands his allies to fly him past obstacles. A wild Minccino repeatedly foils their efforts by using Sing to lull them into sleep, causing Nyarth’s team to be swept away or hidden—a recurring outcome in Team Rocket’s animated shorts. Despite setbacks, he persists until Minccino’s final interference loses their loot.

Nyarth occasionally shows compassion, such as protecting Misty’s Togepi egg or aiding May’s Skitty against Jessie. He acknowledges he might have befriended Pikachu under different circumstances. Beyond the main series, he pursues a rock-star dream, referenced in *Super Smash Bros. Melee* and a special CD, and serves as an emcee in *Pokémon Channel*.
