Bonnie, known as Eureka in Japanese-language media, is the younger sister of Clemont and a traveling companion during the Kalos region journey. She resides in Lumiose City and first encountered Ash Ketchum outside the Prism Tower, saving his Pikachu after a Gym incident. Although under the minimum age to officially become a Pokémon Trainer, she fiercely desires to do so in the future. This restriction doesn't dampen her enthusiasm for Pokémon, and she visibly thrills at encountering them.
Her journey began when she and Clemont decided to accompany Ash through Kalos. Early in their travels, she met a wild Dedenne. After persistently trying to befriend it, Clemont captured it, and Dedenne became her unofficial partner Pokémon. She carries Dedenne in a yellow shoulder bag, showing constant care and protectiveness. Later, she formed a deep bond with a Zygarde Core nicknamed Squishy, modifying her bag to accommodate it. She promised to reunite and travel with Squishy once officially a Trainer.
Bonnie exhibits a curious and energetic personality, engaging in activities like caring for Pokémon, singing, or fishing. She demonstrates an ability to sense Pokémon's emotions and intentions, a skill that deepened through her connection with Squishy, allowing her to detect its distress, location, or pain even at a distance. Family relationships are central; she shares a close bond with her father, Meyer, and a protective yet playful dynamic with Clemont, often trying to find potential romantic partners for him, leading to comedic situations. She also develops a sisterly rapport with Serena, collaborating on tasks like cooking and seeking fashion advice.
Within the events of *Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages*, Bonnie travels with Ash, Serena, and Clemont to a desert city resembling Dubai. There, they encounter the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa and become involved in its conflict, which involves the release of its unrestrained form and the summoning of multiple Legendary Pokémon. Bonnie participates in the group's efforts to protect the city during the ensuing battles, fulfilling her typical supportive role within the narrative.
