Description
Shigeru Fujiwara is the husband of Touko Fujiwara and foster parent to Takashi Natsume. A middle-aged man with short black-gray hair and rectangular glasses, he often wears long-sleeved shirts and enjoys quiet reading. His personality blends quiet consideration, kindness, and a dry sense of humor. He practices pottery, sometimes inviting Takashi to join him.
Shigeru grew up as an only child in a household with his parents and grandparents. His childhood was stable and filled with friends. A significant event involved befriending Reiko Natsume after she exorcised a malicious spirit named Karime from his home, an act that damaged a room. This encounter left him with fragmented memories of Reiko as a beautiful, capricious girl, though he later forgot her name and face.
He attended college, learning to cook and living independently before marrying Touko. They settled in the Fujiwara family home. Unable to have children, they lived peacefully until Shigeru encountered Takashi at a distant relative's funeral. Noticing the boy's loneliness and difficult situation, Shigeru proposed fostering him to Touko. He formally invited Takashi to live with them, offering stability and acceptance.
As a foster parent, Shigeru consistently shows patience and warmth towards Takashi. He respects the boy's privacy, never prying into secrets while affirming their family bond. When Takashi caused household damage during a spiritual incident, Shigeru dismissed his apologies, stating, "This is your home," emphasizing unconditional belonging. He encourages Takashi's gradual emotional openness and subtly enjoys observing his spontaneous behaviors as signs of growing comfort.
Shigeru's relationship with Touko is affectionate and collaborative; they share household duties and jointly support Takashi. He maintains a distant, unrecognized connection to Reiko through Takashi, unaware of her spiritual legacy or the Book of Friends. His past friendship with Reiko subtly mirrors his present role in providing Takashi the sanctuary he himself once received.
