Eiji Itō is a Japanese male voice actor born on July 21, 1961, in Fukaya, Saitama, Japan. He is known for his rich and warm vocal quality, which often leads him to be cast in roles such as fathers, elders, and other authority figures. His interest in voice acting began in his childhood when he noticed the same voice actor performing in different television programs. After attending Saitama Prefectural Fukaya High School, he completed actor's training at the Haikyo Actor Institute and subsequently joined a theater company, beginning his professional career in the early 1990s. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with several talent agencies and as of December 2020, he is with SSP.

Itō is perhaps most recognized for his long-running role as Shigeru Fujiwara, the kind and soft-spoken foster father of the protagonist in the Natsume Yūjin-Chō series. He has voiced this character across multiple seasons including Natsume Yūjin-Chō, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Go, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Roku, as well as the film Natsume Yujin-cho the Movie: Ephemeral Bond and the OVA Natsume Yūjin-Chō: Itsuka Yuki no Hi ni. His filmography includes a diverse range of other anime roles. He voiced Odin in the 1999 series Chiisana Kyōjin Microman and its subsequent film Chiisana Kyōjin Microman: Daigekisen! Microman VS Saikyō Senshi Gorgon. He also took over the role of Odin for a portion of the series. In the comedy OVA series Animation Runner Kuromi 2, he played the character Mizuho Tanonaka. Additional credits include the role of Okada-san in Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen.

Beyond the roles listed, Itō has built a substantial career with appearances in many other notable anime. These include roles in Hunter x Hunter (as Light Nostrade and Ivlenkov), Major, Hakuouki (as Enomoto Takeaki), Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Samurai Champloo, and the Transformers franchise. He is also active in dubbing foreign films and television series into Japanese, as well as voicing characters in video games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Langrisser III, and Fate/Samurai Remnant. While not decorated with major public awards, Itō is highly regarded within the industry for his versatility, the stability of his long career, and his memorable portrayals of paternal and elder characters.
