Description
Satoru Nishimura, a first-year student at Takashi Natsume's high school, is a recurring minor character in Class 2 and best friends with Atsushi Kitamoto. He became Natsume's first friend after moving to town when he returned to the classroom for a forgotten pencil case, accidentally waking Natsume from a nightmare. Despite Natsume's reserve, Nishimura and Kitamoto persistently pursued his friendship, forging a close bond.
Nishimura has short brown hair and eyes, standing slightly shorter than Natsume, Kitamoto, and Kaname Tanuma. He typically wears his school uniform—a white collared shirt and grey pants—or casual attire during leisure activities. His humorous and easy-going personality occasionally reveals a perverted sense of humor. Noticing Natsume's unusual behavior, Nishimura and Kitamoto remained supportive, teaching Natsume to ride a bicycle and frequently organizing outings.
During Natsume's visit, Nishimura was possessed by a youkai that entered his home. Influenced by the spirit, he snapped at Natsume over folding paper cranes for Touko Fujiwara’s hospitalized acquaintance, accusing him of distrusting friends. After his outburst, Nishimura fled to a forest, sensing heaviness and a dark presence on his shoulders. Natsume and Madara intervened, with Madara’s binding light exorcising the youkai. Briefly conscious during the event, Nishimura glimpsed Madara’s silhouette and overheard Natsume confide that Nishimura was special as the first classmate to speak to him. Later, Nishimura reflected that Natsume should confide in him more than his cat.
Nishimura harbors a crush on Tooru Taki, often recruiting Natsume’s help to invite her to gatherings. Taki appears unaware of his feelings, and Nishimura reacted with comical jealousy upon suspecting romance between Natsume and Taki. He envies his brother, especially after Natsume praised his brother’s kindness during paper crane folding, leaving Nishimura contemplative about his own perception. Minor conflicts arise with his mother over issues like lunch.
Unlike Tanuma or Taki, Nishimura remains unaware of Natsume’s ability to see youkai. His role centers on providing human companionship to Natsume, contrasting supernatural-focused relationships. He possesses skill in folding paper cranes, demonstrated after his possession.
