TV-Series
Description
Satoru Nishimura is a first-year high school student and classmate of Takashi Natsume, possessing short brown hair and brown eyes and standing slightly shorter than Natsume, Atsushi Kitamoto, and Kaname Tanuma. He is typically seen in his school uniform: a white collar shirt and grey pants.

Nishimura displays a humorous, easy-going personality with a slightly mischievous streak. He and Kitamoto actively befriend the initially reserved Natsume, demonstrating open-mindedness and becoming Natsume's first friend in town, though he remains unaware of Natsume's ability to perceive youkai. Early interactions include Nishimura laughing when Natsume startles awake from a nightmare, noting it was Natsume's first genuine smile he witnessed. He later insists Natsume rest at the Nishimura house after finding him post-youkai attack. During this visit, Nishimura invites Natsume to his room and shares stories about his brother, inadvertently making Natsume uncomfortable by referencing family bonds Natsume lacked. Learning of Natsume's unstable upbringing from Jun Sasada, Nishimura realizes his comments were inconsiderate.

A significant incident involves Nishimura being possessed by a youkai while discussing origami cranes with Natsume. The influence causes him to snap at Natsume for not seeking folding help. After his outburst, he flees into a forest, sensing a heavy presence on his shoulders. Semi-conscious during rescue, he overhears Natsume telling Madara that Nishimura is special for being the first to speak to him in class. Nishimura later awakens in a hospital, and they reconcile by folding cranes together at his home.

Nishimura maintains a close friendship with Kitamoto, and together they teach Natsume skills like bicycle riding. He harbors a persistent crush on Tooru Taki, often enlisting Natsume's help to invite her to gatherings, though Taki appears unaware. His relationship with his mother is occasionally contentious, particularly over trivial matters like lunch.

Within broader events, Nishimura appears as part of Natsume's friend group during everyday activities and minor supernatural incidents, such as encountering a fragmented Nyanko-sensei during a spirit tree event. He later joins "Sora's team" after learning of Natsume's abilities, expressing understanding and apologizing for past misunderstandings.
