Kaname Tanuma is a close friend and classmate of Takashi Natsume, and one of the few humans who knows about Natsume’s ability to see youkai. He serves as a recurring character, with a significant role in the story The Stone Waker and the Strange Visitor, where he becomes the focus of a supernatural incident.
In terms of background, Tanuma is the only child of a Buddhist priest who lives and works at a temple in Yatsuhara.
